Unity or Enclave?

Post » Sun Dec 12, 2010 2:08 pm

In the Fallout universe, there have been two major organizations that have played the part of antagonist for your characters. In the first game, we were introduced to the Unity, the original super mutant threat cultivated and lead by the Master. Later they served as antagonists once more in Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel and made further appearances in Fallout 2 and Fallout Tactics. The second such fiendish organization is the better known Enclave, who tried to wipe out life as we know it in both FO2 and FO3.

As fans, who would you look forward to seeing again? The slightly pretentious but overwhelmingly childlike super mutant zealots or the whacky hardcoe Americanazis in cool armor and sweet Vertibirds?

Neither really.
Nice with some former members or remnants but not the actual factions again.
I'm glad we have a lot of new factions to go nuts over in Vegas.

The Unity. The Enclave were just a bit misguided in what they were doing, they thought they had the countries best interests at heart(though they ultimately went about it in the wrong way). And truth be told I'm a bit bored of The Enclave at the moment, we need new (bad) blood.
Where as The Master was a twisted megalomaniac who tortured and experimented on prisoners for his own nefarious purposes.

Not really looking foward to either one of them. Unity died with the fact that Super Mutants are sterile. Enclave seems unlikely and only ways I would like to see them is as old Enclave veterans like Arcade Gannon or some small group of undercover diehards.

Neither, but if I had to pick, Unity. NO MORE ENCLAVE (at least until FO4).

Yeah the leader of both factions has been deposed so it would be rather strange to have them reform unilaterally under a new leader and still present the same threat.

Isn't Lou supposed to be in New Vegas?

So my vote's for Unity, though some Enclave remnants would be fine by me. As long as it all fits well, anyway.

I am tired of the Enclave. I don't want anymore. Also I thought it has been confirmed that ED-E will be the only Enclave in New Vegas.

The State of Utolbitha might be something like a remnant of Unity.

That's what I was thinking as well, the last remaining bastion for those bitter UNITY SM's

Why does the Fallout Universe always have the same Lawful-Evil antagonists? The Unity: Wants to create a safe wasteland but forces everyone to become mutants. The Enclave: Wants to revive America but uses any means necessary and is totalitarian. Caesar's Legion: Wants to unite the tribes of the wasteland but forces them into their army as slaves.

Seriously, we need a new kind of antagonist pl0x.

Those are the kind of antagonists fallout needs. Not totally evil. Bad guys need to have some redeeming qualities. If not then they become one dimensional and boring. In the end it's better to have factions we can decide for ourselves if they are evil or not.

I'd like to see the Enclave remnants merge with the Brotherhood Outcasts (and those within the BoS/splinter groups) into an ultra-fascist pure strain human tech scrounging genocide machine.

With the Lyons-ised BoS from the East Coast forming the core of the more compassionate organization. Stir up a hornet's nest in all that's left of the US of A.

Chaos, war, choose sides and fight or die. Good times.

I have thought of it as a common fifties theme of dystopian society oppressed by government just continuing after the destruction of government and civilization. It reminds me a lot of the Valhalla Sector in the television series Jeremiah, given that most of the population died to a man made plague as opposed to nukes.

Lawful-Evil fits the best though a case could be made for Neutral-Evil if it is done well.. If you want Chaotic-Evil you've got raiders for that.

I choose Enclave because they will have the Advanced Power Armor but I don't think they will be in the game

I'd like to see remnants of each but neither of them as the antagonist.

Anything to be able to finally use http://img123.imageshack.us/img123/3487/harryjm1.gif in a post. :whistling:

~But seriously my choice would be neither. Enclave remnants would not likely be on patrol, and rather more likely be out of uniform.
The Remnants of the Unity were scarce 30 years prior to FO3. The Unity was proven a false hope, and the sane ones that were left, probably left that part of their life like a bad war they wish to forget.

I'd personally like the enclave to return more than unity. Most of you are bored of the enclave, but I think they are fun enemies.

I have to agree here, I want to see NEW factions I'm not familiar with, not the same ones we saw in earlier Fallout games. Just because the game is called Fallout doesn't mean it has to reuse every concept past games have included. Honestly, as far as I'm concerned, even having the Enclave be the main enemies in Fallout 3 was not something I could approve of, I don't want them playing that role in a third game as well.
