Game has DIED!

Post » Mon Dec 20, 2010 7:10 pm

Hey all,

I should start by saying that I think the game is excellent just to set that straight. The quests are inventive, the characters engaging blah blah etcetera.
The problem that I have is this: my game has just died. After playing through dozens of side missions, after completing most of the main mission I am now stuck. For some reason, my quest marker is stuck on a completely superfluous spot on the map and no matter what I do, I can not change quests and have the marker update. I cannot quick travel - it just says "Quick travel not available form this spot". I found some cheats and tried typing "movetoqt" which takes me to the same spot every time (on the control deck at Helios 1). I'm kind of annoyed because i only used 2 saves in the game (I kept saving over the same two spots again and again) so I can't revert and have the problem fix itself. I could start again but I have so much sweet gear and I took hours fighting through wasteland idiots gaining skills, points, levels and gear. I kind of feel a little rorted.

So, I don't really know why I am writing this except to maybe vent and also with the hope that someone will have a fix suggestion that might work for me.

Anyone? Anyone? Beuller?

if you give us a little more info like, the quest your on, where your stuck what your objective is and so on, we might be able to help you a little more. But just basically saying Im stuck... well not much we can do for you there.

So are you saying that even when outside you still get "Quick travel not available form this spot"??

More information is definitely necessary. If you are on PC, type coc Goodsprings into the console. See if that works.

please read what i have written above. i could name any and every quest in the game but this isn't going to help because as i stated in the original post, no matter which quest i select, the marker never moves. in fact, i have selected every single available quest in the pipboy but as i stated above, the marker stays firmly fixed on the control panel at helios.

yes, this is what is happening.

i will try this thank you - yes, i feel i made it clear in the original post that i have access to the PC developer console. i dont think i'd be able to type 'movetoqt' and activate it on a game console would i?

so thanks for the replies. all help appreciated.

Have you tried restarting your consol/computer. I'm on PS3, and when something like that happens and I restart my consol, it seems to have fixed itself.

I think I misunderstood you. I thought you were stuck in some building for some reason....

Disregard my advice, as it will likely do nothing to fix your problem.

Have you tried to just use the finish quest command, or the reset resetquest if its pointing at the helios one control panel, its probably the "Lucky old Sun" so try resetquest 000E282D and see if that helps.

Definitely always use a fresh save. When I started out, I oversaved a few times, and it caused problems.
