Dear FNV friends My game always blank screens (crashes) after 15 minutes of gameplay , now ive done all the d3d9.dll fixes and looked allover for the other fixes , ive updated my driver to 260.99 (nvidia gt 220 ) and tweaked with the nvidia controll panel to make the bloody thing work ,
unfortunately it hasnt and now i get a crash every 5 minutes , i have a 22 inch HD screen , and my system is powerfull enough to run a game such as this one i think
if you manage to help me i would hapily give you a blwjob

While I cannot address every possible problem that may be involved, I can say that you are pushing the envelope pretty hard with the video graphics card that you have. nVIDIA's current "20" cards are more or less the old 300/400 business class, not intended for games at all, and the only reason it's able to start out in the game is the rather decrepit old age of the Gamebryo engine limits how far it can go. But the "20" is badly overstressed, and either overheated or otherwise puched beyond its design margins when a game like this, is challenging its poor performance for any length of time.

Now, I'm not saying that the low quality of that inexpensive video solution is 100% of the problem, because you should be able to choose Low Image quality settings, and low resolutions, and play the game anyway. However, when Obsidian built the game, they made a mess of the Dx9 situation, particularly for the Dx10 / Dx11 Windows versions and cards to match. Some of that ws already there; ever since the Geforce GTX400s and matching drivers appeared, some people have had some trouble with Fallout 3 along similar lines (instability and performance).

Should you be a Green Brand fan, so only the Geforces appeal to you, I wouldn't suggest any late model card with a number in the last two digits smaller than a "40", such as the GT240, GTS250, and newer GTS450. TTBOMK, as I'm writing this, there is no 340 or 350, or 440 from nVIDIA, at least, none you can purchase in the retail channel.

Give us your preferred screen resolution, your upgrade budget, and the image quality settings you hope for, and we'll work from there.

For the Red Brand, the numbers you want are 650s, 670s, 750s, and 770s, at least to start with for Mainline Gaming cards such as the HD 5670, HD 5750, and HD 5770. The last prior mainline HD 4n00s were the HD 4650, HD 4670, HD 4750.

Beyond the lesser mainline cards' ranks, the upgrades almost always must include new power supplies, sized to match the power draw from the cards, and those add $50 or more to the upgrade total, because PSUs priced less than that are a danger to your system from shoddy components.

P. S. Don't forget that I've not pretended to know what is the basic underlying problem for Windows Vista / Windows 7 vis-a-vis the mostly high end Geforce cards. Several owners of Geforce 240s reported problems, although not as many as the owners of various 330s, 8800s, 260s, 9800s, 460s, 270s, 280s, 470s, 480s.

Quite a few, although proportionally far fewer than Geforce owners, among high end Radeon owners such as 4870s, 5870s, and 5970s have had troubles, but I do not believe I've seen one HD 4670 or HD 5670 owner complaining. Then again, I am one person, who visits here half a dozen times a day, and I never do read but a relatively small part of the total coming through here.
