Which is your chosen arsenal and why?
And evryone knows about the energy in freeside at silver yes?

there is a scope!! haha weew, my last build was a mix...waste of skills but i had to start with guns.

This game generally favors guns. Not that Energy Weapons are slouching a lot. But the anachronism of post-apocalyptia with a Western theme and Vegas gangsters really goes better with lead throwers. The laser RCW is a nice touch, however. I could see the guys in the Tops spraying down a restaurant front window using one of those.

If the game had more cowboy and gangster lasers, I would definitely favor energy.

I actually prefer energy weapons on very hard. Nothing can survive a sneak attack head shot from the Y186 with max charge ammo, and nothing else will survive the plasmahose(plasmacaster) in medium/short range. Max charge ammo is the real addictive drug in FNV.

All of my hot-keyed weapons are guns, aside from a lone knife. I'm trying to find all the Laser Rifle mods so I can carry one of them around for a little variety, though.

Laser RCW really surprises me as I see fiend dealing so little damage with them, but once you have a optimal repair in your hand you will wonder why are they so common.

But Energy Weapon really got themself beaten down by good old M1Grand....I just kill the Legendary DeathClaw with it!

It really comes down to this. Guns are more prevalent, and if you are new to the game, or not huge on item hunting, guns will generally be easier to play with. They are more abundant, and they have a natural knack for punching through DT- which is extremely important against tougher enemies. You can get around DT with energy too, it just takes a plan, you need to know what guns you need, and how to get them ASAP.

Once you have a gauss rifle and plasma caster with a pile of maximum overcharge ammo, energy weapons becomes very powerful, but until that threshold they are tough to use against anything with decent DT.

Explosions. Nothing beats the GMG. Especially with Incendiary grenades ;)

In my two play-throughs I've stuck with guns, I need more experience with the laser/plasma offerings so I might stick with them for play-through 3.

I chose energy weapons as the Y186 destroys anything in 1 hit, and its very easy to convert every energy ammo into MFC for the Y186.

First run I did guns. I like them; wide variety, plenty of ammo... never found too many mods though.

I am using EWs now. They are less damaging, but completely bypass DT on a critical. Plus, meltdown is awesome... as long as you're not really close to the people you're killing; then it becomes a curse.
