(Idea)Nipton repopulated

Post » Wed Dec 29, 2010 4:59 am

I was thinking about nipton, and there not being any cause to ever revisit the place. So I thought, it would be neat if it turned into a trading hub for certain factions. A new ncr outpost with caravans going out of it to other small towns. Or a brotherhood small arms merchant. Or enclave remnants and brotherhood joining up in an unholy trading alliance.

It'd also make a neat spot to spawn opposing faction patrols to try and retake the town.

So I was wondering what other people think ought to be in nipton :-)

edit: Or here is a thought, cycle ownership through the various factions. Create a single Commander npc whose death will trigger another factions creatures to take over the camp. So, you have incentive to keep the commander alive, or if you shuffle him/her off another faction will eventually take over.

I don't see the BoS settling their with the NCR and certainly not with Enclave remnants.

It would be interesting if you could influence who settles there. Perhaps it's most just drifters and prospectors but if you could get a few people from a specific faction there and then learn about it during the ending that would be quite cool. :)

I think it'd be nice to see NCR settlers/colonists. There's so many NCR troops around but you don't really run into regular NCR citizens from California. Could be worked into the story as volunteers sent to the 'frontier' to do the industrial/non-military work of the NCR in Nevada.

Nipton's proximity to the NCR outpost would also make it easy to protect.

A caravan pit-stop town with residents from other towns would be nice.
Edit: Oops, I forgot! The FoTA or Bright Followers could live their also seeing as how it's kinda near RepConn. It also could become a Ghoul town like how Jacobstown is a Super Mutant town.

I would say the NCR should probably move in after being told what happened there. You could probably attach it to the quest that if your speech is at a certain level they might get defiant instead of scared and go to declare martial law in the town while it's repopulated. You could make a game out of protecting it from a few Legion attacks. Or you could go in the opposite direction somehow.
Maybe make some other quests to go with it dealing with getting town defenses back online, like turrets and such, and clearing those dogs out of the town hall. Or use your repair+science skills to make some robots. You could make it really New-Vegasesque, so to speak.

Sounds like a really fun idea.

Hows this idea.

So you can do these side quest that will get the enclave back together, only a small amount ( i think arcades follower quest does this) and after you do that you can start a quest with them to retake nipton as a HQ or somethin. That same time NCR will try to do the same. As you progress thro the quest the NCR and Enclave will setup positions in the town and begin fireing upon each other. You can choose between The enclave or the NCR and help each to take the town or come to a mutural agreement. After you do that it will unlock more quest with the faction you choose to take control or something like that.

I voted other. I don't want anyone living there as its where I live. It would be cool if all your followers could live there with you and each have their own house, we could have a book club :read:
