Downloaded from GameStop; won't run?

Post » Mon Jan 03, 2011 12:41 pm

Hi, all! Just received a link from GameStop to d/l F:NV; did so, installed it. But it won't run. Get the spinning cursor then nothing... Are there any issues with the early downloads? Running Dell XPS M1710 laptop under Win7...

Thanks for any suggestions!

I just posted a thread about my GameStop preload. I'm also running Windows 7 (64 bit)

Were you able to download the whole thing? I only got a download for an installer that installed a 2MB file. GameStop says that download preload is available so I think it's not just a release date thing.

Locking it (or the downloader?) is a possibility. And yeah, downloaded the installer which downloaded a 2MB thing. It's that thing that won't run, so I guess I'll wait. :(

Thanks for the replies, guys! I'll check the other GameStop thread.

Yep. I have a ticket in with the TryMedia company about it and I'll post as soon as I hear anything.

Hi, I ordered from gamestop digital download as well and you shouldn't even need to use the link they provided. Just log into your steam account, and go to games, activate a product on steam, then copy and paste the cd-key that's included in the email below the link. After that you can preload and play when it's released. Here's a link to steam if you don't have it already http://store.steampowered.com/

Thanks. They sent an email apologizing for the confusion and explaining to download through Steam.

I'll live, but I'm pretty upset. I specifically chose to not purchase the game through Steam because of their account specific game installs and sure enough after you follow GameStop's email Steam says that the game is permanently attached to that Steam account. *sigh*

Yea no way it would run a day early, they locked it on purpose.

@ Gurkog, if you log into your steam account on other computers, you can install the game on any of those too, you just have to be logged in to play it. So yes, you cant share, but you can play it on as many computers as you want. Actually, you can install it on your friends computer, then just put steam into offline so it doesnt know your own in two places at once. That lets you give it to your friends. But they cant earn achievements or anything. I let my sister play a bunch of steam games like Tropico 3 like this. So they cant do anything online, but that doenst matter as FNV is singleplayer.

The game is activated through Steam no matter how you purchase it for the PC. So, it is tied to your Steam account anyway.
