(Spoilers) Completing the game without failing Dont Tread on

Post » Tue Jan 18, 2011 6:47 am

Hi,

So My intension from the start of playing the game was to side with the NCR. So I go through the game and sided with Yes Man, saw the Dont Tread on the Bear quest pop up and got annoyed, but decided to side with Yes Man anyway. So now I hate that save, so I started again and thought that since the NCR doesn't like Yes Man I would side with Mr House. So I do so, next thing I know I get the same quest! I want to side with the NCR, how do I play the game so I'm not doing bad on their part?

Thanks.

if you want to side with the NCR, don't side with Yes-Man. Even then you can be redeemed, afaik, as long as you don't activate the thing in the other bunker. Once you do that, you have crossed a Rubicon.

no no, you can upgrade the Securitrons. What you mustn't do is

Spoiler

Go to House's other bunker, under Caesar's camp, and upgrade the huge robot army. Once they are online, and towards the end, Yes-man will give you the option of routing power to them to activate them, basically making you a third army. Once you do that, you are locked into conflict with the NCR.

Don't Tread On The Bear is a warning, you last chance. Once that quest appears, do everything you can to stay on the NCR's good side. Do quests for them. Report to them. eg you will get given the option at one point of reporting to the NCR commander, or reporting to Yes-man. If you want to stay on the NCR's good side, report to the NCR commander. If you report to Yes-man, you have "trodden on the bear" and locked yourself into conflict with them.

If you want to side with the NCR, confront Benny. A messenger will give you a note to meet with the ambassador. Do it, which starts For the Republic, which is the NCRs questline. ;
