Song Suggestions?

Post » Sun Dec 19, 2010 4:07 pm

I am guessing I was not the only person disappointed with the lack of more than a half-dozen (or so) songs in the entire game. Let's not dwell on that, but rather discuss songs we might like to see included in patches or by modders...

Here are some of my basic choices/suggestions

Sundown- Marty Robbins
Cool Water- Marty Robbins
The Devil's Right Hand- Steve Earle (cover version by Waylon Jennings)
Highwaymen- Waylon Jennings
Ladies Love Outlaws- Waylon Jennings
Waymore's Blues- Waylon Jennings
San Quentin- Johnny Cash (great song to begin playing when you approach the NCR Correctional Facility/Prison)

What are yours?

Riders in the Sky- Burl Ives (many other versions, including Bing Crosby)
So Lonesome I Could Cry- Hank Williams
Butcher Pete- Roy Brown (because you can't have too much Butcher Pete... )

While playing, the song "Dust in the Wind" by Kansas came to mind, but it's too modern for the setting.

Well, whenever I'm tired of the ones in the game, I just plug my USB into my Xbox and listen to these...

Nancy Sinatra - Baby shot me down
Frank Sinatra - Fly me to the moon
Edith Piaf - Non, Je ne regrette rien

A few tracks from the Tomb Raider: Legend score because I love it, and it fits in nicely.
Also a couple from the Resident Evil 5 score.

And a few that are too modern, but that I like listening to while playing (and they sort of remind me of Fallout anyway):
Gorillaz - Last Living Souls
Hurts - Wonderful Life
Sade - Soldier of Love
Nena - 99 Red Balloons
Depeche Mode - Enjoy the Silence
Nouvelle Vague - Love will tear us apart

With all those people complaining about this game having a definitive ending I think that The End by the Doors would be a great choice.

This is the end,

Hahaha ... well, even aside from copyright concerns, I'm pretty glad that such a music expansion is hypothetical! Much as i love Depeche Mode, they're hardly fitting material for the Fallout world! (though Freestate would be my song choice if any).

If I had some Tom Lehrer (We'll All Go Together), I'd drop it into my music folder - and I Want To Be Evil by Eartha Kitt's a great song. There's a pretty fun track by Agent Ribbons called Cigarette that would work in a weird kind of way.

Mack The Knife - by anyone, I really don't care as long as this song is added to the game.

I really like death wind's idea of Wanted Dead or Alive by Bon Jovi though, I can just see myself wandering the Mojave with that as the theme tune :)

And in a weird way I think Johnny Cash's A Boy Named Sue fits perfectly with Fallout and more specifically New Vegas

What I have modded in from my own collection:

4:30 of a BRM V16 screaming along. Sounds sweet, and since that F1 car was made in 1951, it even fits into lore. Not that I care much, lol.
The Day that Never Comes - Metallica
One - Metallica
Still Alive
Land of Confusion - Disturbed (This one aptly enough describes the entire Fallout universe lol)
Once in a while I'll hear Chevelle - The Red.

That's all I've gotten around to replacing, but then again that's all Mr New Vegas plays anyways. The rest of the songs in there almost never get played. I really need to get around to fixing that, then adding in more good music from my own collection.

The "I've got a lovely bunch of coconuts" song from Monty Python. I'm afraid I don't know the original author of the song.

 I know right? Don't know why I put that one on there, but whenever it comes on it makes me smile. I have a lot more unfitting music than that, just for the kicks. Those were the few "not-too-embarrassing-to-list" ones.

I'm now adding Hotel California and Imagine to my USB. Lawl

This one's late by about a decade but I'll share it, too:
