Recent windows updates

I got prompted for windows updates, nothing to serious, it didn't even require a reboot. So I installed them, and went on playing FONV, about a half hour later, the game froze...no biggie, it happens, right? So I started back up and about 30 minutes later, it froze again. Hmmmm, so I decide to reboot, while I'm rebooting my PC takes much longer (at least twice as long to boot up) than usual. Also, I got a message saying that my copy of windows 7 64x ultimate is not genuine (even though it is). I ran all my anti-virus/spyware/malware programs that I have and everything comes up clean? Does anyone know what this may be or has it happened to them before?

Thank in advance.

Have you also downloaded the new PC patch(as in New Vegas patch) that came out today? It completely breaks the game and causes it to freeze constantly for PS3/PC users (360 Users have not received the patch)

That would be why it's breaking if so. If you haven't then I dunno man.. windows update could have done something strange I guess?

Sometimes the "validation" updates are known to flag genuine users as non-genuine. I would call up Microsoft support. It's definitely not a fault of New Vegas.

This is precisely why I disable Windows Update upon fresh installation of windows. Microsoft is absolutely horrible about patching. They release them by the gigabyte and the best you can hope for is they don't break everything.

Call up Microsoft, if they're no help, see if you can uninstall that update, if that isn't possible reinstall Windows and disable Windows Update first thing.
