So I Talked with Mr. House

Post » Wed Jan 05, 2011 7:02 am

It could be that I missed something, or maybe that it's just because I haven't finished the game yet. If it's the latter case, I'd prefer people attempt to avoid giving me too many spoilers(even though this is the forum for that, I can't ask this anywhere else). But when I first, officially met Mr. House and spoke to him, one of the many dialog options I had my character pick was one asking the purpose of my involvement or something of that nature. That she was "just a Courier." To which Mr. House responded by telling me/her not to act coy and that I've known from the start that I have quite a bit of importance-or something like that. I'm paraphrasing, because-unfortunately-I can't accurately remember most of what he (or I) said word by word.

Am I looking too deeply into this? Is he just referring to the fact that I realized I was in something bigger than a random murder attempt(pretty early on, they mention how Victor was one of the robots created by Mr. House and something along the lines of how it had to be a good thing if Mr. House was watching our for me/her)? Because I still don't fully understand what the courier's role was in it all-was he/she just supposed to be the replacement of Benny?

Again, haven't finished the game-and I just confronted Benny, literally. Also talked to Yes Man.

His actual words are
"Oh, don't be coy. You've been playing a high stakes game ever since Victor dug you out of the ground. Don't be afraid to admit it. "
Your are a replacement for Benny, you survived being shot in the head twice and you managed to Track Benny all the way to Vegas. You could have done the reasonable thing and gone home. But no you decided to track Benny down. That's what he means by don't be coy. Your not just a Courier because a normal person wouldn't do what you did.
And the new right hand man or woman as the case may be. To accomplish this aim he's trying to make you feel special. You get the VIP treatment because your House's new Vice President.

Because you took 2-shot in the head and lived? House is merely trying to make similarity between you and himself so that you with feel comfortable with him.

valke pretty much hit the nail on the head (as he, or she, usually does)

What House is saying in laymens terms is that you and he have survived incredulous odds and many problems on the paths you have both taken in life to achieve your goals.

Not exact;y what he means actualy. When you were shot you WERE just a courier. But since then you have realy impressed house to the point he conciders you extremely useful. Its basicaly the house version of what ceasar says. You now are a major player in the game.. litteraly;/ as well as figuratively.
