A thought on all the complaints.

Sometimes I wonder a little bit about all the complaints on this game. I've played Oblivion and Fallout 3 and this new Fallout New Vegas, all on 360. And I think these games are great. Yeah sometimes they are buggy a lil, but these games are far fom broken. In fact they are great. It's a great mix of roleplay and action. These games aren't for everyone though. They take a little bit of patience and I think maybe more mature crowds (kids and advlts) are the ones who can really get the most out of these games.
I been thinking lately that possibly that other game manufacturers might perhaps be flooding rival companies game forums with bad reviews and over reactive bug reports. I've noticed this in the sports, first person shooters, and RPG genres. I think usually either you like the game or you don't; it's not a matter if poor design or lack of quality. The game is for you or isn't.
With so many of the types of games competing with each other every month sometimes I question what the purpose of totally flaming a game on a forum is really all about. Don't people netflix or rent games they're not sure about anymore? I bought this game 'cause I liked Fallout and Oblivion. I knew what I was getting into and it's great.
I dunno what I'm getting at but some of the things people complain about are just really silly to me. Okay everyone keep rockin' and have fun doin it.

Just cause one played Oblivion and Fallout 3 doesn't mean one knows how the game is going to be like.
For example, we all knew about Damage Threshold. But I had no idea it was going to make me cry like a little baby from gecko's.
So certain things we did not know 100% of how they were really going to be.
You can never know that until you've played the game.
And some people thought: It looks the same and I loved Fallout 3 so I must love this one.
But then they found out that difficulty is changed, perks every other level, less skill points, nothings handed to you on a silver tray and that there are no more dungeons.
And somehow, it just isn't the same for them.

I don't understand all the bashing either.

This game is only slightly harder than FO 3 was, but at least in 90% N.V the game is a challenge unlike fallout 3 where you ascend to a god like level and become nigh unkillable.

I think its a great game, I admittedly finished my first characters play through last night a little early at 48.5 hours. I had another 2-4 hours of other side quests to do but I wanted to see the ending.

I was not dissapoint.

Now I started three new plays, a Melee play. A focused gun specialist and a smart guy who svcks at combat, but uses energy weapons.

So far the Melee play has been meh, mostly because I expect more "stupid" dialog with a int of 3, and melee is not my thing really. Likely going to revise that build.

The gun user and smart guy both have high luck and its WAY easier now to kill things with crits.

The bashing is derivative of the FO3 situation, and since your assumption is on 360 I can not vouch for the condition. However on the PS3 side, you'd be careful plodding those words in that section. I play the PS3 version and whilst my gaming experience is no way near horrible as 30+ crashes/freezes in as little as an hour or two I can still appreciate their concern. Obviously none of you are having said crashes to such a degree therefore to put it bluntly you don't know what there going through.

Considering I am a fanatic about the Fallout series, I'm sure if I had that amount of problems I'd be a little more loose with my wording.

In regards to the complaints about gameplay some are daft which is subjective, however you can not question the amount of problems and the amount of people complaining about software issues which I highlight are not part of the experience. The bashing on the PS3 side is in fact warranted, if you had FO3 when it released and NV too and got as many problems as reported you wouldn't be as clinical to dismiss them.

Perhaps you're right Reno. I think I've been reading the forums of a lot of games I play too much and been getting negative about the negative comments of games I like. If I had those problems I'd be mad as heck too. Plus I think I'm reading some of the PC gripes and not differentiating it from my 360. I would've bought it for PC because I hear how the mods are so cool but my technical skill have gone really down hill from my Gemstone 3 scripting days.

I am not having performance issues, but I have about 8 quests in my log that are still broken even after the patch that supposedly fixed 200+ quest related scripts.

I am a perfectionist when it comes to video games, so all these uncompletable quests in my log are irritating the [censored] out of me.

I also have issues with the Crafting Containers in the High-Roller Suite; I put [censored] in them, and when I leave and come back, they're empty again ><

And, while it's not a bug, per se, it is pretty damn annoying that companions that are told to wait at Lucky 38 get into the fridge and eat all the food/drink all the booze and take all the weapons from the weapon lockers. I was saving all my special Nuka-Colas but that [censored] Cass drank them all. Hell; at least you can get the weapons back. Even if I could get the food back, I am not so sure I'd want it... :bonk:

Haven't bought it, yet. Am somewhat more comfortable now that the pc community has fixed some of the more serious bugs, BUt, I amcurious about what you mean by "there are no more dungeons". I am not sure that FO3 had any either. Thanks.

Well, not dungeons as in "caves with lots of creatures" but yknow, every vault, every metro station every place like those satellite towers, that college etc were all dungeons.
They had a long and sometimes complicated interior with a lot of enemies inside and some nice loot along the way.
Those are very very very very very few and far between in FNV.
FO3 had one every 50 meters.

Oh. Disappointing.

Well, I will try to keep an open mind. B)
