Help Needed Taking Down BoS Bunker

Post » Sat Jan 15, 2011 2:52 am

Hey all, I'm nearing the end of my third playthrough (this one for Caesars Legion), and I'm in the process of taking down the BoS Bunker in Hidden Valley. I've defeated Elder McNamara and Paladin Ramos, only because they were on the first floor when i got there. Now, I'm stuck though. I have cleared out every PERSON on the first floor, it's just the turrets that keep killing me. Does anyone have any suggestions for weapons/armor/companions to bring with me? I'm a melee build character and am currently using the Super Sledge, which is why i keep dieing against turrets. I have the scavenged NCR Power Armor and Helmet, and am using no companions because 1) I am vilified with the NCR (No Boone) 2.) Am working with the Legion (No Arcade Gannon) 3.) Am taking down the BoS (No Veronica) and 4.) Have no repair skill whatsoever (ED-E)

Can anyone make any suggestions?

EDIT: Also, does anyone know of any merchant with 5000 + caps? i have a heap of BoS Power Armor that i need off my hands.

Thanks for the help. I've resorted to bashing the turrets with my Super Sledge while jumping and circling them so they can't target me.

Ed-E can also be repaired with the right parts and a repair of...35 I think? Unless you don't have a level of 35, either. Another companion you can get is Rex, though I've never gotten him it should be possible as long as you don't get on the bad side of the Kings. And then there's Lily(?). And Cassidy.(at the Mojave Outpost, which is at the southern edge of the map to the west). And probably someone else I can't think of.

I know you mentioned you were melee character, but you really ought to bring pulse grenades and such with you anyways if you're having any trouble with robots. Pulse grenades, mines, etc. do a lot of damage to robots, do a little damage to humans. Where as frag grenades, mines, etc. have a reverse effect. So it might help you at least a bit. Also, if you ever start having a lot of trouble in general, it's a smart idea to start stocking up on a lot of stimpacks, food, etc. to heal you-and smart to get some things such as med-x(decreases the amount of damage received, which gives you more time to be alive and kill the enemy) and psycho(gives your damage increased impact on the enemy, making it quicker and easier to kill them). The only disadvantage to drugs like that is that it's ridiculously easy to get addicted to them.

Also, just remembered-getting things like Jet and Rebound ought to help too. If you're trying to use V.A.T.S.

I'm not sure what companions would be best in this sort of situation, though. I've only had Boone and Ed-E so far-I intend to get the other ones in future, but I haven't gotten to that point quite yet.

Don't go in guns blazing but use the bases self destruct and run like crazy. I also believe The Elder's terminal can turn the turrets against the rest.

Gun Runners always has 8000 caps ready to give away.

As for turrets, Pulse Gun works wonders. I was one-shoting sentry bots with 30 energy weapons skill.

+1 for Pulse Gun usage against any robots, amazing.
Gun Runners has the 8000 caps every 3 days, just like all the other vendors reset their inventory and caps.

Slasher+Med-X? Or stack 10~20 different kind of food/drinks for constant healing? What about Paladin Toaster?

I just pickpocket the keys off of the 3 guys. I don't even have a good sneak skill, I just take off my armor and wait behind them until I'm "hidden," and then save-scum the passcode. Then I go to the terminal, save, activate a stealth boy, input the code and sneak right out. Bam! Easy quest.

Oh god, that bunker is a place I hate now. Went there to kill them after I got my collar off (Ranger: Yo!, Me: Yay NCR! *Takes off collar* *Loves NCR* *Punishes BoS with NCR Justice!* Took me an hour to kill them and died everytime. Eventually I say to hell with it, and me and rex funneled them at the top of the stairs and unload on all the Paladins and Recruits. Then I blew up the bunker but forgot to take all the power armor *There bodies I stacked in Piles in the lobby.

Hate myself now.
