ncr-BoS truce

Post » Tue Dec 21, 2010 11:50 pm

I have finished the game as yes-man with the brotherhood of steel, i went back to before the last quest to end it with NCR, i got to a quest that required me to "deal with" the brotherhood of steel, speech being my highest valued skill,i was hoping to diplomatically solve the situation, i found out i could not diplomatically ally the two faction with the new elder in place. this does not make any sense considering the new elder is supposed to be more open minded (thats the reason i did the quest to put him in) i should be able to get the truce between ncr and BoS with the new elder this should be fixed in a patch.

If you do all B.O.S quests then you can ask Elder McNamara too support NCR. But not if you put Hardin in as Elder. Legion doesn't even ever side with them, that's one of the main reasons I hate them :)

The New Elder wants to kill them, not be peaceful.

Not being mean or anything but why do you always double post? Problem with your comp or something?
EDIT: on topic, hardins more aggressive. He wanted to be leader impulsively, chiefly to remove the lockdown.

It actually makes a good bit of sense. Hardin wanted to open up the bunker without knowing whether or not the NCR was still hunting the Brotherhood and trusted an outsider to help him oust McNamara. The first thing he does as Elder is send you to kill the Van Graffs. Not because they're crooks and psychos, but because they're selling advanced weaponry. This clearly isn't a person that is interested in dealing with the outside world as equals.

It's subtle, but I felt the game made it clear that Hardin wasn't the diplomatic choice for Elder.

The new elder is not more open minded. He's not a complete wussy, though, like McNamara.

Yes, Hardin likes using a Flamer to deal with a fly. :flamethrower:

As for McNamara, you have to go through more stuff to fix the bunker, but in the end, he is more likely to see reason and help in the end.

It only happens on these forums, but now I'm being extra careful when pressing the add reply button.

*facepalm*

Hardin wanting the BoS to go outside doesn't mean he wants for them to go around picking flowers.

True dat. I made that mistake in my first playthrough, figured he may be the way to make them branch out and help others. That failed...

There are lots of small clues that McNamara is the more 'liberal' choice for the Brotherhood throughout the game. For example, Veronica will mentioned that he is one of the most progressive Elder that the Brotherhood has seen in years. Also, Hardin has been implied to be a traditionalist and hard-liner.
