Just wondering who the best arms dealers are, what the best armor is, best gun etc.

I haven't found a better merchant than Quartermaster Bardon at Hoover Dam, and the T-51b Power Armor seems pretty awesome. I also like the YCS/186 Energy Rifle.

Anybody else loaded on Energy Weapon Ammunition besides Bardon?

Idunno, Q-30 Modulator I guess, fun weapon, not too powerful, not too weak, pretty okay. AER14 for the same reason.
Leather armor, enemies need a chance at killing me.

And arms dealer?
Idunno, Mick And Ralph for GMG, they always have one.
Silver Rush for EW.
Gun Runners for most guns.
And for Unarmed, just get Pushy and you'll never need another weapon.
Haven't tried an Melee character yet but I figure it's the same as with Unarmed.

With EW there are not best vendor, since all cell are interchangeable.

Bardon is also quite far from the fast travel point as well.

Gun runners has the Best ammo and Guns no energy weapons. Silver rush has a wide array of Energy weapons.

Thing about Quartermaster Bardon is that hes loaded on ammo. He has all kinds, energy, and the gunpowder. I think at one point he had like 7 thousand 5mm rounds for sale.

Best Apparel: T-51b Power Armor (non-faction)
Best Weapon: YCS/186 (I like snipers, its the best sniper)
Best Merchant: Quartermaster Bardon (He restocks unlike some, he has energy ammo which isn't too common and hes got more ammo total than anyone in the game!)
Best Safehouse: Lucky 38 (I've come to the conclusion mostly because you can send your companions to it...)
Best Quest: The end game one. (The quest changes depending on what faction your fighting with)
Worst Weapon: Binoculars (Yes, it is a weapon... according to Bethesda)
Best Companion: Boone (He does long range, the mojave is 99% long range)
Best Enemy: Legendary Deathclaw (They are the chuck norris of bad guys in fallout)
Best Faction: Brotherhood of Steel (From their armor, to their weapons, to their hideout... its all awesome!)
Worst Faction: Fiends (Deranged crackheads... with guns)
Best Character: Courier (I'm him, so he wins)
Best Strip Location: Ultra-Luxe (That place has the best looking interior, everywhere else has their ceilings falling apart...)
Smartest Faction: Followers of the Apocalypse (They are smart....)
Dumbest Faction: Fiends (Drugs [censored] your brain.... enough said)

I was not impressed with Gobi or That Gun. Lucky outperforms That Gun on all counts, and ever since the Big Nerfing of the Sniper Rifle, Gobi doesn't offer any meaningful advantage over a scoped Trail Carbine.

"Best" generally depends on your playing preferences. If you prefer Sneak over rushing head first into battle, then Leather Armor, Reinforced is better than T51 Power Armor. If your SPECIAL distribution leaves you with low ST, you might not count the heavier weapons among the "best" even if they offer higher damage.

lucky is an awesome early game weapon, but that gun can fire AP ammo. against armored foes it is more effective. other than that, i just love the reloading animation with that beeping sound

You don't really meet that many armored foes that early in the game, so it's a questionable advantage. Besides, Lucky has a whopping 12 points of damage per hit more than That Gun, and 5.56 AP ammo reduces DT by 15; that gives you a difference of what, 3 damage points? Not much. If you have the Cowboy perk, That Gun gains 4.5 points while Lucky gains 7.5 points, giving it an equal damage-vs-DT output to That Gun WITH AP ammo; add .357 JFP handloads which lower DT by 3 and Lucky is hands down superior.

i don't take the cowboy perk, and in addition, the reloading time of lucky is atrocious, that is a big thing to me especially due to the small mag size.
still, i use lucky quite extensively, it's my early to mid game main weapon combo together with ratslayer, and is also used as my casino gun.
