Oops. Killed Caeser, now what?!

Post » Tue Dec 28, 2010 3:01 am

I have got to the point on the Yes man quests that I was doing the optional fortified bunker quest? But to get the chip to get in the bunker I had to kill Caeser and his cronies. And Benny. Have I screwed the ending battle up by killing the Big C? Or do I just go into the bunker and kill House?

Err.. what? Caesar gives you back the chip. Just play along with being his lackey until you get into the bunker. Then you never need to see them again. Heck, once you're out of the bunker, you can gun down Legionnaires to your heart's content, made easier by the fact that they give you your guns back before you go in there.

Also, House is not in the Bunker under the Fort.

And lastly, no you didn't screw up anything, except any chance of siding with Caesar (which I gather you aren't planning on this playthru anyway).

You don't kill House at the bunker.
And Legion will avenge for Caesars death so the main quest is not messed up. (Unless you planned on going on a legion playthrough.)

Only problem is, I am villified by the legion.. Getting the chip by force is the only option I have?

No you haven't. You can still play out the ending with any other faction besides the CL. You'll still meet Ceasar's War Chief at the end.

You can always go back to a previous save, especially if you want to take Boone with you when you kill the legion at the fort, he says some funny things when you wipe them out. I don't know why you would have thought you were vilified with them when you went into the bunker, the weather station guard nicely gave you your equipment back, you do down to the bunker, either follow Caesar's orders or Mr. House or if you're with Yes Man, just update the software, bingo, go back to the cute weather station guard, get your stuff back and go talk to Caesar, or like you did, come back up with guns blasting but they won't like you after that as you found out. As a matter of fact, if you decide to play nice, you have to option to tell Caesar you'll never work for him again and all he does is get pissed, you don't lose rep for that. Unless I'm legion, I love taking Boone in and just blasting all of them though, it's fun--especially if I'm going to do Rex, I like Lupa's brain the best for him.

Also, if you wipe out everyone at Cottonwood Cove, you can still click on the raft to get to the fort, it doesn't have to have the Cursor there.

Yeah, things all got a bit messy and confused..!
I was following the story but then got into a bit of bother with a bunch of Legion. After they got toasted, they villified me. Ah well, never liked men in dodgy skirts.
Then I ran out of obvious side quests to do and places to visit so decided to finish the game. Picked up on the Yes man route and the last option was a visit to the the fortified bunker. Got the 'invisable' raft and had a brilliant time, Boone was going bat-[censored]!
Entered Caesers tent and got rushed, Annabelle made quick work. Benny suprised me, so I kind of 'reflex' shot him. He looked better dead, so I left it at that.
Upgraded the robots, and popped back to Yes man. Then I noticed I still had the last bit of 'change in management' to do and thought that might affect my progress. Hence a now dead, Mr House. Creeeepy little guy.
Yes man is delighted with this and I am now about to go through some 'demonstration'. Looking forward to that!
God I'm going to miss this game when I finish, roll on PC DLC! :tops:

Finish?

Finish!

What you talkin' 'bout, Willis?

Once you've explored everything. Found everything. Got all the available quests... (note I said 'available'.)

Then you just roll a new PC and start over again. Do things a little differently and a whole new set of questlines will open up.

Once you play through a couple of times (eight or so if you want most of the endings.) then you start modding.

This game is never finished.

Yeah, Boons dialouge is pretty funny after you wipe out the place. I just did it the other day, but do the legion respawn?

I wish they had screen shots on XBox....I took a lovely picture with Michelangelo's camera of Boone and ED-E posing with Ceasar dead in his throne with Lucius and the Praetorians arrayed in front of him. Couldn't get Boone to smile though.

Not so that you would notice, I find there are a few at the camp (sometimes) if I return but never like before, same with Cottonwood Cove, might be a couple got hung up when I was taking out each camp.

And because there are so many endings, I find compelled to keep playing until I've gone through them, I have yet to do Chief Hanlon's quest even, and a few others. I can't imagine just playing this game once and thinking you've done it all, you're just getting started! As James Garrett says when you find him the sixbot, "My God imagine the possiblilities!"

Entertaining little story you have there  .

Too bad about all those poor, semi-innocent people dying, but it's important to make quick decisions when you're in pressed and tight situations.

I really enjoyed how the storyline was so spread out and you could tackle the main quest from so many angles. Of course the complexity of the situation sometimes caused technical issues to arise when you overlapped the wrong part of quests on top of one another - but overall that's something I could live with for a game that gives so much freedom to explore the situation from so many angles.

FO3 by contrast was a pretty linear affair. Eventually when I made a new toon it was the same ol routine - leave the vault - help the outcasts and get the uberarmor - go directly to the vault and save dad - play around a little with the side quests - kill eden - profit. I viewed it as the story was exactly the same no matter what so I may as well just do it in the most efficient way possible.

I thought I killed everyone at the Fort, but then decided to go back, because I needed egg timers :)
Turned out I let Lucius live the last time I was there, lol.
