Short Review of New Vegas

Post » Tue Sep 23, 2008 2:52 am

This be my short review of most of the things in Fallout: New Vegas.

  • The story is execellent and original. 1+
  • The Factions are well created and have good backgrounds. 1+
  • The sounds and the items that were recycled were a downside, but the new weapons were a plus, 0
  • The companions and their background made for great detail. 1+
  • The quests were decent and had multiple endings and that made a plus. 1+
  • Thrown weapons (Such as spears.) made a good return, but the lack of them is a negative. -3
  • It still has a tint (albiet it is orange now.) so that was a downside. -3
  • No background which makes for better roleplaying as a GREAT thing. 3+
  • The locations that were empty were a downside, but the Locations that will be used for future DLC's are a good additon as we don't have buildings popping up out of the ground. 0
  • Return of Cyberdog and Wild wasteland were "meh" additions. 0
  • The return of traits was a SUPER thing for them to return, It's one of my favorite things in this game. 3+
  • hardcoe mode was a wonderful thing. 3+
  • Perks every two levels were a good thing to add, Since we now have balanced characters and not "Jack of all trades" gods (Well, at least we can't make them as easily.) 1+

Thank you, Also the game while it really good, Is'nt the best game possible, and to answer anyone thats wondering why there is'nt any mention of bugs, It's because I hav'nt experienced many, and I've experienced crashes, character restarts and file corruption, But it just lets me restart the game and have more fun with a new play style.

I agree.
And:
"?It still has a tint (albiet it is orange now.) so that was a downside. -3

?No background which makes for better roleplaying as a GREAT thing. 3+"

A negative 3 for a "downside" and a plus 3 for a "GREAT thing".

I don't get it.

Also, I didn't notice an orange tint. Are you sure your monitor/tv is accurately representing color? Did you adjust it to counteract the green in FO3 and didn't return it to normal?
There is a bit of a dirty tone, but that's the desert for you...

It may not make much sense to you, But maybe I just made it wrong in my head..

The orange tint is reaaaaaally noticable to me, but its better than that green tint in FO3.

Are you playing on the PC? If so, I highly recommend the mod Fellout: New Vegas, which removes the orange tint and makes the lighting at night much darker. Places like Freeside and Primm look 1000% better at night!

Problem is that you don't see anything, even with modified Friend of the Night perk. You need some nightvision mod too :D

I could see fine with the modded Friend of the Night perk. Maybe your gamma is set too low? I really like the darker nights, not only does it make settlements look waaaay better at night, but it also makes things like night vision a lot more useful.

I probably agree, more than disagree. But alot is a matter of preference, i.e. you don't like it orange, but others think the mojave is an orange lookin place.

+ / - system is kinda weird.

I see FO:NV as a general improvement on FO3, so I'm happy.
