So.
Alright, Chris Avelone, Good old Black Isle , Planescape Torment(Duh!), the only writer - game designer write a more - than - decent story in Fallout setting, time and engine limitations, them console players. - That was like TL;DR for you.
Ok, if you think that New Vegas is a sequel to Fallout 3, you are quite wrong.New Vegas is an attemt to return to the immortal original, if not the most succesful one, still a step in the right direction.
There's a thing you (whoever is meant by that) should understand: If you haven't played the first two fallouts - you haven't played fallout at all, F3 in a mutant, an odd one in the series, dumbed down, simplified, made fat and enjoyable (FUN!), made for bigger sales, bigger profits, and Kool Kids with Konsoles. Good, now it's 3/4 to the New Year Hangover.
Like bulletpoints for the personality of your personal self:
F3: Mutants - them mutants are eevil kill them, Enclave - the same thing, Raiders - the same thing, Various Crits - the same thing.
Brotherhood - We r liek them knight of teh rawnd tabel, we killeth them eevil gits with gigatic walking rawbots charging their lazors.
Plot - Liek bible, greater good, martyr, shady psst, must make sacrifaeces for teh better future of everyone.
Humo(u)r: Like and plunger on my head, oh and there's a Ray Brabrury reference (When I played it I loved the reference, but now I'm in RAAGE so disregard that, Ray is forever great), the humour was dumb, we'll leave it at that.) Ok, now I remember a few jokes that were actually funny, but I'll ignore that for obvious reasons.
Summary: A stupid, inhuman, unintersting, unengaging cartoon for 12 - years- olds and modern [censored] to drool over.
Ok, I'm exagerating (Nope, I'm not).It was extremely entertaining though, can't deny that.
Fallout always had deep reasoning behind actions of every character, there were no strictly evil or good persons or factions, there were interests, stories, reasons, doubts - because that is what a character of made of, it was (is) entertaining because it was (is) believable, it was (is) engaging because pieces made a picture to behold outside the boudaries of the game, it wasn't (isn't) just shoot 'em up, (though the shoot 'em up part was extermely enjoyable too (damn you non- violent videogames campaign and stuff)), it was " I wonder how the bandit feels when I shoot in the groin with my sniper rifle"
and then you growled with pain, that is how engaging it was!

You may think that the point made about the original Fallout was not a point at all, but it is the very point that Fallout is supposed to leave wondering in awe for the words can't make the justice of the complexity and skill put into it, the fallout is the game to live outside the machine, it burrows deep into your mind, the game that lives, the game that you live ( that's how you when you are reading good book, if you haven't got my point yet.
So New Vegas is halfway to Fallout, F3 is not Fallout at all.
