The funny thing highlighted by your post from that quote is whether or not the journalist has any weight behind his words at all with truth, console gamers see us in that light.
The fact of the matter is, if PC gaming were to ever completely die out. People can make funny rag articles all they want but console gaming will indeed die a year after words. We pay for all the hardware that is invested into console and without us consoles wouldn't exist. If PC gaming does die eventually, so will console gaming. The console gaming elitists don't like when I say this, but they have never been able to prove my statements are inaccurate in any way because they aren't.
I honestly agree, I dont see PC gaming dying anywhere in the near future, however consoles have gotten much more "kid" friendly. Im not talking about dumbing things down, Im talking about games in general. Look at the WII, it has AMAZING sales, and its target audience are groups of people or people under the age of 18, just look at the WII isle next time your at Best Buy, or Wally world, 99% of the games are E for everyone.
Console games are, in my opinion, heading towards the "social" side of game, long gone are the days of playing Armored Core, or Tomb Raider in your dark bedroom for hours on end, and begining are the times where you invite 10 of your buddies over and drink beer and kill things on MW2 while mocking the terrible scores of your fellow players. Thats what I consoles going to, maybe in the future it will all circle around again, like the virtual version of bell bottum jeans. Only time will tell.
