Problem w/Matchmaking according to the PSN account's country

Post » Tue Apr 20, 2010 2:45 pm

Hello everyone,

I have a serious issue with Crysis 2's matchmaking. I live in Egypt and unfortunately Sony doesn't have Egypt as a viable country on the account creation on the PS3. So, I went ahead and chose Saudi Arabia as my "country" because it's the nearest country to me, and that forces me to play with Saudi Arabians only, even if I get only 1 bar ping. Unfortunately internet does not travel in straight lines and that causes me to have 300+ ms ping with Saudi Arabia(http://www.pingtest.net/result/38416168.png Kuwait ping test) while I get 60ms ping with Europe(http://www.pingtest.net/result/35911719.png UK ping test).

Can Crytek implement matchmaking by ping instead of matchmaking by the PSN account's country? Or at least give us the option to?

EDIT: I did make a secondary UK account to test my theory, and it turned out that the game does indeed put you with games depending on your PSN account's country. I played 2 games with 3 bars and that was ALOT better than 1 bar games. However, using the new account would cause me to lose all my online friends and PSN Store purchases, and I find that highly inconvenient.

That's actually pretty sad that it doesn't do this to begin with.

Yeah, I agree with you. I don't think that Crytek would care enough to do anything to fix it too, since my country is probably "insignificant".

Agreed, I live in Brazil and the game puts me with people from Europe=1 bar connection. Some rare, really rare times I play with Americans=2 bars connection. Put me with people from Argentina, Uruguai or maybe even *gasps and looks around* Brazil!

I really hope that Crytek addresses this issue in the next patch.

Wouldn't all your friends also have psn accounts in UK to combat this problem? Just add friends on ur UK account.

Also when I have purchased stuff like map packs on one account, it is available for use on all my other accounts.

That's the problem, creating a new account just to play one game is kinda silly and inconvenient, most multiplayer games search for games according to your ping, regardless of location, the way it should be in my honest opinion.

Also when I have purchased stuff like map packs on one account, it is available for use on all my other accounts.

Yes, I think that most downloadable content works on all accounts on 1 system, but that's not the case for subscription based games like DCUO or even PSN avatars.

I'll use my UK account as a workaround for the time being, but I really hope that Crytek can implement latency based matchmaking.

Anyway, Thank you Sunny, I really appreciate your help :)

Hey,

I have been having a similar problem only mine contradicts yours.

I live in saudi arabia n my account is based here but when i play online they use to match me with saudis which gave me from 3 to 4 bars so i can get a good connection but not anymore. Something happened after 5 to 6 matches Now every time i start a new session it never finds anyone in the freaking region n matches me with either europe or the states n i end up with 1 bar. Can't really understand what is going on but would love some feedback from CRYTEK SUPPORT.

I haven't been playing the game for a while cuz every time i put it in i end up pissed n disappointed but i really really wanna play the game.

Anyways if anyone know anything please let me know,

Thanks.

I think that this probably happens if the game fails to find games hosted by Saudi Arabians, which would most likely occur if you play late at night.

I have been unable to play with my main account for 2 days, it is getting kind of frustrating to be honest.
