Should Crysis 2 revert back to its roots?

Post » Fri Apr 23, 2010 6:21 pm

I've played crysis for three years (Crysis-Crysis 2) and the one thing that I noticed is that I got more of my moneys worth out of the first Crysis than the second installment. The first one had an open battlefield with pilotable vehicles, larger maps, and more customizeable options. So I ask you this Crytek, isn't it just about time that you look back at the formulas that made your games successful and start utilizing them with your future installments?

i think i just want the A.I from the first game more than anything

and the ability to just level a building ontop of the enemies, you felt stronger in the first game

I never played the original as I'm not a PC gamer. It seems Crytek wants their software to be multiplatform though, so doing what they did with the original may just be unrealistic on 5 year old tech that consoles are running. Maybe it is possible in the new engine and they just went with the design of Crysis 2 for other reasons though. I guess only Crytek knows the answer to that one.

BTW, this seems like a PC topic. Curious you posted it in the PS3 forum.

Yeah, but some formulas used on one platform could be used on the same game on another to make it better.

I want Crysis imported through Cryengine 3 and made a DLC. Like DICE did with the frostbite engine in Bad Company 2 with Harvest Day and Oasis maps. Going through both Crysis and Warhead, I would like to have that same type of map feel as well for PS3. MP bugs aside, I am enjoying just firing up the PS3 and playing SP without the same problems I had on the PC, without having to tweak every setting known to man to get it to 'kinda' run! lol
