Audition some Grado SR60i's. You won't be disappointed. I haven't listened to the Dr Dre's so I can't comment on them but they have a word associated with them which means I'll steer clear - Monster.

Although I love this on the Studio Dr Dre's product page:

"Artists and producers spend countless hours fine-tuning and mixing music to get it exactly how they want their fans to hear it. But the vast majority of headphones can’t accurately reproduce the intricacies produced in the studio. Simply put,Studios can. With precision-engineered, advanced speaker design, powered amplification, and powered noise cancellation, you hear music the way today’s top artists and producers want you to hear."

But the all too real reality is that in the mastering process it all gets compressed as hell to make it louder. Then iTunes sample it in a crappy low bit rate. So all in all the High Fidelity of Hi-Fi is now lost resulting in a distorted tinny sounding mess. Rolling Stone magazine had a great article about it called the "The Death of High Fidelity". Google it as the Rolling Stone web site doesn't have it any more but there's a few PDF's of it going around.

Dr. Dre head phones are overpriced and really, really, REALLY not worth it. Youre paying for the name / brand, not the value.

I personally use Sennheiser PC 350s for gaming (it has a mic), and Sennheiser HD 380 pros for music (for my Zune HD / when im going places). Both headphones are great, and offer some of the best quality i've heard for the price (there are better, but then you're looking at $400+). Both headsets are insanely high quality (Sennheiser in general make really good stuff), sound awesome (8-28,000hz response frequency), and (imo) look really good.

You can get either for under $200 in most places.
