I was thinking that I would but Counter Strike from steam but I don't know if I should wait for another one of their sales. What should I do.

It's one of the great classic games. In my opinion it is the greatest of it's generation and still one of the top games in the world.

Counter Strike: Source is the longest lasting popular PC game on the market. It hits a peak of over 80,000 players every day still, and the game is from 2005 I think.. :)

Out of curiosity, would you guys recommend buying the original, or the source version?

Counter Strike: Source is better

Counter Strike 1.6 is sooooo old. Like 1999 or something and the graphics are blox.

Counter Strike: Source is the longest lasting popular PC game on the market.

I think overall CS is more popular than any shooter, than any Call Of Duty or Halo.

CS 1.6 is:
- harder (guns are harder to control and when someone hit you, you will be slowed down in the moment so it's harder to escape)
- has a little worse graphics (not really disturbing)
- has many players (as many as CS Source does)

So these games are even, but in addiction, when you get CS Source you get Source SDK, so you will be able to play many Source mods, and create you own.
By buying CS 1.6 you will be able to play HL1 mods (there are some, but not many people play multiplayer mods).

It bothers me how the age of the game shows, it feels too artificial. Things like strictly mathematical jumps and the way player's hands move when running... or to be more precise, how they do not. And especially when wielding the knife, imagine yourself running/jumping holding your hands like that, both streched out front and still, playing with the blade.

If you play gg a lot (to the point where you can get first a lot) for css then you will get better at all other fps games guaranteed.
