Can't even activate Single-Player; 'code invalid' error

Hi All:

I tried the search for 'singleplayer code not working', but couldn't find a solution, so I hope maybe someone can help me.

I keep getting the message: "The serial number you entered is invalid. Please contact customer support for more information."

This happens after the game is installed and I click "Play".


I have correctly entered the serial # many times, and still get this message.
The game is installed and ready to play- no problems at all there, but this is really getting frustrating!
My copy of the game was purchased retail from Amazon.com, and is the 'Crysis 2 Limited Edition' DVD. I pre-ordered it on the 13th- so much for my "Day 1 Advantage". I'm using the serial # from the inside of the dvd. The game is registered at EA in 'My Games'.
I contacted EA support about this and had already done everything they suggested, and they didn't seem to understand that I have no trouble installing the game at all- I just cannot ACTIVATE it. I included the exact quoted error message above, and someone from EA support wrote back saying "I understand you are having error message : 'serial code in use'." Of course that's not even the error I wrote them about! I guess I'm outta luck.

TIA if anyone can help. Disappointed mightily with EA.
