LOL. :P

That would work well. But a mute feature is simply the best solution. Adding some additional functionality at the beginning of the game to allow you to mute the entire match of players would be great as well.

Why would you need a language filter in SP? I mean, that just doesn't make any sense at all. :P

Its an "M" rated game - like it or leave it.

I doubt in a real war (either vs. other people or vs. space aliens) they would run around going "oh wow that hurt" or "golly that was painful". I think there was a study that showed using actual "swear words" increases your resistance to pain, much more so than saying normal words.

Rated M for mature, you can just hate the dialogue if you don't like it.

We all know how foul mouthed people in the military are, ESPECIALLY during combat. So I say deal with it, it's part of the setting. If you're not mature enough to handle language that makes you squeamish, sorry.

If you're referring to voice chat and people talking like a bunch of idiots in MP, there's nothing you can do about that except turn it off/mute it.

Its rated M for a reason, little kiddies arent supposed to join in. Grow a sack and man up, and maybe use some war paint as preparation for the battle.

These are Marines. This game tones it down from the real deal.

So, tell me, what makes the lack of control "manly"? I have little to no respect for anyone, and I mean anyone, who cannot control their mouth. IF you can't control your mouth, you cannot control your mind, and I don't need a study to know that is true. Swearing is a sign of weakness. It shows you can't get control over yourself and are in an open position to be destroyed. Maturity is not swearing ones head off because they can't control their own mouth, it is controling ones self. You can be the weakest man in the earth, but if you have control over your own mouth and mind, you are stronger than 90% of the worlds so called "men".

Now, I was asking for a filter for the AI and stuff like that. As in, not the guy playing, but the guy they are playing as.

I HATE swearing. BUT I want to hear what is being said that might MEAN something to the plot.

And one other thing. I have a bunch of little siblings that watch me play. I'd rather them not start talking like people who don't know what it means to be mature.

You speak of harsh language intended to express anger or to speak ill of people, which is what could be called weak by some means. Or desperation.

That however is a minority of the swear words seen and heard. Mostly, they simply serve as stronger exclamation marks than simple "!"'s. I swear rather often (depends what you compare to), but I use it not to make people acknowledge anger or similar, but rather to for example amplify a joke. I don't know which generation you're from, but my generation greatly appreciate to use harsh language in order to get more attention to what they say. Not saying that there aren't a few who dislike it, but a definite majority do not interpret swearing as something negative. The force and meaning of a swear word is all about how it is expressed, and in what situation. A swear word does by no means need to be something negative.

Saying that people who swear are automatically stupid isn't true. That's ignorant.

For your information, I know there was a modding project a while ago that tried to remove all harsh language from the Crysis files. You might look that up if it seems like something useful. I don't know what happened to it

I have little to no respect for anyone who thinks it's okay to treat people differently just because they demand everyone not use 7 specific words.
I would like to know how anyone thinks swearing makes them weak, or shows lack of self control? People can't choose to use colorful language, it's always involuntary? why control what I say around my friends? Don't try to make excuses as to why you don't approve of language people are using, just because you were raised that way. "Controlling your language" is a matter of choice, and has no bearing as to whether or not you as a person are in control of your faculties. though it is interesting YOU are so worried about controlling OTHER peoples language.
Furthermore, in the military cursing like this is certainly the norm in combat, regardless of whether or not you think its 'manly' it is the case, and this game is trying to have a realistic touch to it, filtering this out draws away from the immersion.
Wear headphones. Deal with the language that deeply offends you so, or don't play, clearly the game wasn't marketed towards you.
Finally, why do you let children watch a game made for advlts and then complain when some advlt content appears is BEYOND me, do you do the same thing with rated R films? Of course not, you'd be an idiot to think any rated R movie was acceptable for a child. You don't complain about how their is no violence/nudity/Language filter for them, you just say 'its not for them/me' and you move on, and find something suitable for them.
while this may not be directed at me, I don't think anyone said swearing was okay because it was manly, at least in my case I merely said it was a fact of life and is quite prolific in military service/marines, and certainly has been since the marines inception, and certainly I'm sure the same could be said in regards to other branches. I don't think cursing really effects that one way or the other, just like how swearing doesn't have any effect on your manliness, it also has no effect on your intelligence

THE PERFECT EXAMPLE of this is the southern accent, sure I could sit there and write off everyone with a southern accent as a total idiot, just based on the way they talk and the words they use. Instead, I judge them on their character and personality, as making snap judgements just on how someone sounds or what words they use would make me a bigot.

Its been proven that swearing helps people deal with pain. Its also been proven that swearing is different than everyday talk. People in car accidents have been known to get brain damage and not be able to talk, and upon finding themselves unable to talk, let out a long string of expletives. Swearing is a different part of our language even down to a brain level, and its been proven to help relieve pain. Now you have marines getting shot at, their gonna curse. I would like to see you not curse after getting shot.
