DESTRUCTIBLE ENVIRONMENTS?

Post » Sat Jun 26, 2010 2:07 am

in crysis wars there was no destructible environments i.e shoot a tank at a wall nothing happens. but in the single player campaign there was excellent interactions with the buildings, roofs would fly off, walls could break in two. so i think that would add alot of tactical advantages to C2 multilayer as well as giving the player the sense that he himself is the weapon. thoughts?

Well... when Crysis Wars has DX10 enabled then you do get destructible environments. svcks so much that you can't play it like that on windows XP... but on 7 you can... lets not talk about vista :L

lol, yeah there probably was, but i always set my settings to max performance and i guess physics got turned off. but how cool would it be if you grabbed a car and threw it through a wall, creating your own flank routes. it would be the end of campers :)

Look at the type of buildings in powerstruggle. In battlefield about 99% of the buildings are useless, in Crysis Wars the buildings are mainly bunkers, war factory's, prototype and energy sites. If these buildings where destructible everything would be tank spammed like crazy.

true but since vehicles are likely to not be included the player would have to be that "tank"

in the multilayer there's that map that has two buildings collapsed into each other. two buildings = dozens of rooms, corridors, floors. i don't want to walk through 15 doors, i want to smash a hole in the ceiling and use super jump to the next floor. it's new, awesome and replay value would increase

Agreed. A destruction system like Bad Company 2, but with more procedural physics, would be awesome. And since there is only 12 players, I'm sure its possible, maybe even on consoles. Crytek just might have to reduce the graphics of holiness to add some gameplay value.

Having the whole environment and city to be blown down to rubble would be incredible. I hope it'll be intergrated in.

I don't remember where, but I saw something where crytek said that there is some destruction, like if you shoot a wall its will get damaged(look at mafia 2) kind of destruction in multiplayer,
i i didn't hear anything on single though.

they got that in crysis 2 sp as well. was in videi. the enviroment is quite destructible but Cry-Tom said that you can't take down whole skyscraqers :(. But i remember a pic from pc gamer where somone fired a rocket at a skyscraqer and there was a massive whole in it. And it was mentioned that you could explore around 2 floors of most skyscraqers.

I always want destruction in-game no matter what type of game it happens to be! Best so far was red faction: guerilla!

Supposedly there are going to be destructible environments in Crysis 2, but they didn't state how much would be destructible.

You are correct about whole skyscraqers but apparently you can smash holes through walls. In the GameOverCast podcast, they said that mp loads of stuff could be smashed up as well as walls :D

attack and defend game modes would have a lot of potential. it'd be so cool having to defend an objective knowing that the other team could come at you from at from a different attack route each time.

im sure the developers must be aware of how much realistic physics are key element in any video games immersiveness.
