[nVidia] New 267.84 Drivers Released Today... Sort of =)

Post » Sat Jun 26, 2010 10:31 pm

The new 267.84 WHQL drivers are out today! Bad news, they probably won't recognize your card! These drivers are released for the beefy GTX 590 so you do need a modded INF ??? file to recognize your card. There are plenty of guides out there so I won't make a new one. Pretty simple, download nv_disp.inf and replace the one that comes with drivers, under the Display.Driver. Run Setup. Prophet! <- Little Crysis humor

As with all drivers I recommend running a clean install, but its now built into Forceware drivers, just run a Custom setup (not express) and you are given a check box under all the drivers for a "Clean Installation." Check this.

I am linking the official drivers and a good modded INF driver I have tested this morning.

Drivers (x64) 267.84: http://www.nvidia.com/object/win7-winvista-64bit-267.84-driver.html

Modded x64 Inf: http://laptopvideo2go.com/infs/265series/26766_win7x64/nv_disp.inf

You may get a missing file error if using the official nVidia one, I just copy and paste all the new files into a working driver set I have had before... for some stupid International English reason... Please refrain from running around screaming in my thread like you just had a shaving accident on your bikini line. Let us not forget we are PC users, save that kind of thing for the console forums :D Just kidding my precious (my PS3 is a temperamental whore at times.)

I have a quick fix for this, see below.

Example:) 267.31 recognizes my card, for everybody else its usually 267.24! I copied all the contents of 267.84 into the 267.31 folders overriding everything. Problem gets solved. Its just a small unincluded file not pertaining to visual drivers that is left out of some nVidia released ones. It happens. I do that whole copy paste shenanigan because I am too arsed lazy to actually found out what tiny file is missing. Instead I squash the whole archive Power Kick style, f*ck yeah! Okay enough of my silly-ness.

Check Guru3d or Laptopvideo2go.com, they are pretty on top of doing all that for you if you want to wait and don't like to manhandle your drivers (or lady handle... I think Goddess84 plays Crysis). I keep forgetting chicks play games, so don't mind me. ANYWAYS, onto numbers:

The performance is increased by about 10% in Crysis 2 over 267.59 betas (which were already pretty damn high 120fps+)

2x GTX 580s
Average FPS ~ probably just 130 fps, dips to about 100 when there is really hectic on screen nuts explosions, helicopters, and buildings falling on your head simultaneously, but I usually am sitting at 140~160 fps running around.

Cool thing to add, 90% of the flickering light reflections/refractions are gone :D This includes flickering texture issue I have seen other have, although drivers 267.59 were already fairly decent. In other notes, HD Audio driver was also upgraded if anyone was having HD Audio out issues with Crysis 2 or any game for that matter.

P.S. In the time I rambled and said stupid sh*t, I could have just written a posh little modded INF install guide like the little "Posh elitist PC turd" that I am =) In that tradition I am leaving you little buggers on your own, after all thats why you have a PC so you can do things for yourself, and not have your little muggen hands walked through everything. PRESS V TO STEALTH HERE FOR YOUR ABOUT TO BE KILLED.... o.o :D Just a little joke Crytek, like that whole press Start to begin joke you played on us :D I know you were just trying to weed out the weak PC players from playing, and I just appreciated that little tidbit :D

Are there really any changes for non-590 owners over the drivers released for the 550?

I have performance gains, and reduced texture lighting, reflection, and general flickering.

The official 580 and below driver version will be out in April, according to ManuelG in the nVidia.com/forums

Its up to you, 267.59 works pretty darn good.
