Hold right mouse button to aim?

Post » Wed Jul 07, 2010 10:27 am

If you have played the Crysis 2 multiplayer anytime (Gamescom etc.), you will know that you had to hold the right mouse button to aim with the red dot or any other scope. In Crysis 1 and Wars that wasn′t so. In my opinion this is a bad improvement. In the most fps-games you have to click the right button ONE time, and that is good so!

That may be something that hasn't been refined yet, or will be an option. Having the flexibility to do whichever way you prefer wouldn't be so bad, although ideally you could set it by optic rather than by profile.

It will most likely be an option to change. I don't like having to hold the right mouse button, makes my finger feel uncomfortable.

So yeah, it's most likely optional, alot of games give you the opportunity to change it.

the gameplay is much faster in C2 than in Wars, that said, hold to aim is much more responsive and quick, much better for FPS

That is if you're playing on console. I find that when you play on a pad, you'd be better off disabling the hold aim feature.

That said, it's completely different on a mouse, you need a one click feature, or for some people, it would feel uncomfortable.

This.

Although like I said, I wouldn't mind having it as an option that could be set depending on the optic used, could be kinda cool being able to snap-aim with it on the reflex sight, and have the scopes stick until a second click.

Whether it is console or PC, I prefer hold instead of toggle (for aiming down the sights/scope as well as crouching).

But again, other people will prefer toggle over hold, which brings us back again at wishing for fully customizable controls to adjust it the way we like it. It's not only the obvious button mapping, but also the minor details like this that should not be overlooked :P

PC gamers don't like to select ANY set of buttons, we like to set our own buttons, and we all have our own minor preferences, depending on mouse, keyboard, finger length, and reaction time.

It depends what game your playing.

For fast paced shooters like CoD, I use hold.

On larger games like Crysis and Battlefield, I go with toggle.

It depends on your liking, none is inferior to the other.
