We need forum archives/pages

Post » Thu Jul 22, 2010 7:45 pm

There are some threads on this forum that contain information or posts that should be archived. Some of them are 'dead' now, which means that while they are still on the forums, they are no longer active enough to keep them from being deleted. We should have a page system on the forum, so that old threads won't simply fall to the bottom of the forum page and be deleted. Old threads will just go fill up the next pages. This is a feature on almost every forum.

Does anyone have thoughts on this?

I think it's a good idea and that old/useful threads should not just become lost, this is one improvement (among many) that we are already working on and you will see some evidence of that in the near future :)

The threads aren't actually being deleted, they're just being pushed off the second (and last) page. You can still access them via the direct URL, no matter how old they are... i realise that's only helpful if you actually know the URL though :)

An archive system is definitely needed in my opinion. It was very good on the old website not for bumping threads, but for reviving old threads to input an additional rational idea.
