MP issue ..? Host advantage ?

Post » Tue Jul 27, 2010 8:19 pm

Seems every game I go into in MP the connection is absolutely dire to say the least and who ever has the holy whole green "full" connection just tends to be able to raqe the rest of us ..

I posted a screen shot via twitter last night to show exactly what I mean ..

So will this be "fixed" in time as there has been 2 updates I think now and neither have sorted anything out except for the matchmaking..

From my experience, I've only had a host go that positive in a game maybe 3-4 times. I almost never have host, probably because my internet service hates me, but I do better than the hosts more often than not.

I've also had hosts on my own team and we get slaughtered, no matter how well I do. I'm not saying there isn't a host advantage, I just haven't experienced much of this.

Its not every game but since the last update its getting steadily worse .. Hit detection is by far the biggest gripe for myself but put it down to Lag but noticed something very wrong last night as most games ended up like this last night over a 2 hour or so period...

I don't know if there is host advantage or not but I do not usually see them as a threat. Hosts rarely do good in the rooms I play in (I've won over 200 matches and been MVP 98 times) and I don't notice a difference when I happen to land host. The only time I"ve seen it effect my chances against a host is if I'm in the complete red (In which case I go ahead and quit and take the loss). Just my opinion and through my experiences (I've played MP for 56 hours now) I think Crysis 2 MP runs pretty solid compared to most other online shooters and some people will always look to an excuse as to why they got their ass handed to them.

Reminds me of the old days when I played Gears of War 1, whoever had host was king. Just run around with the shotty and call it a day xD

I've never been in a match where everyone had at least 3 Bars. It's usually 1's, 2's and 3's with one 4. I thought Black Ops was bad for lag, but at least you can have matches where everyone has 3 or above.

That said, ping bars often don't mean **** (especially in Black Ops). Last week there was a fault with my broadband which meant for a while I was running on 300kb down and 100kb up... for a start I was surprised I could even use Xbox Live... then even more surprising was the fact my bars were varying between 3 and 4. That's in Black Ops and Crysis 2.

It makes me wonder just how bad someone's connection has to be to show yellow or red... or whether the bars have any purpose at all.

Yeah I am not so sure about the bars. I feel like even when I have two bars in a room my connection isnt that bad. Once you get down to one it svcks. The last couple of days have been really bad though. I cant seem to get in a room where I have anything above a two bar connection. They really need to sort this out. I like the MP alot but a little improvement to latency or host selection would go a long way.

I don't think hit detection is that bad once you had wired internet and your nat is open.

Host Advantage is not that influential, most the time the host loses on all the games I have played. Just because you may have a 1/4 of a second advantage over other people it doesn't help if someone has better aim and gets the drop on you.

Because you have no issues doesn't mean the others also don't have them and are just complaining because the lack of her skill.

I have a Open NAT and funnily enough I am wired and my connection is about 7MB so for it to be my connection when its fine in other games isn't the problem..

After reading around the forums a bit more it seems to be the Netcode.. and seeing as most threads posted here are negative it goes to show there are serious issues ..

On the plus side Im willing to give Crytek the benefit of the doubt and hope they "fix" it as I do enjoy the game when it works..

I see crap connections daily but not often is a host good enough to capitalize. I can dominate a host when im on 2 bars most times

I guess its just that 99% of the Crysis 2 Xbox players all have crappy internet connections. Not the game's fault at all....

All i know is every other FPS i own has better connection than this one online. Which is a crying shame because i really love how the ideas and gameplay behind this i hope there can be a fix for it but if it is netcode it will be highly doubtful to be fixed, on console anyway.
