Post » Fri Jul 30, 2010 3:46 pm

Dear staff I have a 22inch 60Hz high definition 1366 x 768 native resolution with HDMI LCD VIZIO HDTV but can I play Crysis 2 on my PS3 using this TV or do I need a better one?

well, ive heard that crysis 2 runs at 720 p for consoles. for you to get the maximum effect, you should get a 720p tv, at least, but you dont have to. it should be able to run fine.

Why couldn't you play it ? I'm pretty sure you will. A better high res TV will probably look a bit better in terms of graphics. Your current one should be fine. If your PS3 is compatible with your TV (I'm sure it is) and if you have been playing other games on it then Crysis 2 will definitely work. It's just like any other PS3 game, although its probably going to be the best looking :)

Yes, your TV is unrelated to whether or not you can play Crysis 2.

Running Crysis 2 at 720P should be just fine for you. :)

Crysis 2 on consoles will run, as stated, at 1280x720, so if your TV supports that resolution then it should look fine. Though, i'd much prefer to play it on as bigger screen as possible :D

But wouldn't playing it on a bigger screen mean "the attack of the jaggies"?
No, seriously, wouldn't it be bad quality if you had a really big TV and games run at 720p, and to add to that consoles don't use AA.

Well, it's not as noticeable on TV's because you're usually several metres away as opposed to right in your face on a PC monitor.

Any 'HD' TV's will run Crysis 2 without any issue. Other resolution TV's may still be able to run the game clearly, if your current display has no problem with any Xbox360 or PS3 game, then Crysis 2 will be no different.

You're not playing on PC, so your screen is just perfect for crysis and any game!

I dont think your Tv is the bottleneck... its the Ps3 ;-)

The 720 p will be upscaled as hell with less good textures and almost no AA.

So you better connect your Pc or laptop if you want to see the "real" max resolution and everything that Crysis 2 can bring up.
Then you will see what your Tv is really capable of.

*PS: This is not an "i hate the ps3 post- its just an information of how this buddy could see the best image possible on his Tv-screen.
-Thank you!

But you use hdmi as connection?

Maybe its an old cable then? Or not a high speed cable?

Infamous killed one of my PS3s. I am on my 3rd one. Feel your PS3 to see if it's geting to hot when you play that game. If you have a old PS3 that could be why.

PS3 can do 720p with no upscaling. You are right that it will not look as good as it would on a PC. I would not tell him to use a laptop, becuase most are not made for games.( A PS3 can do better then laptops 3+ years old or have an intel card.)
