Bad play by Crytek...

Post » Wed Sep 08, 2010 9:48 am

Hi guys,

Please refer to the FAQ: http://www.gamesas.com/news/crysis_2/the-crysis-2-multiplayer-tech-test-faq

I am a member on gamesas but didn’t get an email, how can I apply?
At this point we are not longer accepting additional multiplayer test participants. Stay tuned for other exciting updates!

Whilst i'm sure Crytek would love to have every one of you participating and playing the game, there needs to be a level of organisation and control in order to make this test a successful one which means seats need to be limited.

As always, any news about any further tests you'll be sure to hear about right here!

Cheers.

Lousiest mod reply ever. I know this is rude to say to a mod but dude... This was the worst organization ever. Telling people "HEY YOUR INVITED!!!" then stabbing them by saying, "YOUR INVITED BUT YOU DON'T GET A CHANCE AHAHAH". This is crap for real. And only 900 players? Starcraft 2 had over 20 some thousand testers? If crytek did 20,000 invites, that would cover 1/3 of gamesas. That is a much more fair and reasonable number. I truly do not wanna buy the game now, if this is how Crytek works. Ban me, kick me, I don't care. I'm just EXTREMELY disappointed. Horrible play on Crytek's part. If you got an Invite, you deserve a key. It's that simple. You don't invite and then say we are only picking a select few people who are invited. What the hell is that about?

I will add that I do realize this is more of a stress test, then actual gameplay testing, but still, it's unfair to the fanbase and loyal followers of Crytek to, again, invite and then un-invite. I know none of this is gonna get me a key, but it needs to be said that this was horribly set up.

I too was very disappointed when I didn't get a key. And after all I've contributed to the forums.

meh, none of us know the full story behind all this, and this really is the first real multiplayer test Crytek has done (Im not counting the one for the first game) so I think for them they are learning how to better conduct involve the community to test their games.

look at it this way, Crytek may svck at publicity, community, and PR. but their games kick ass. hell, its better than other companies that just promote their game so much then leave it.

I have been on the forums for quite a while, (way back when we had the old site) I would think I would deserve a key for my dedication, but really, I just gotta be patient, and wait till a real beta comes out. this is just a stress test anyway, none of the xp you get will go toward the final release

idk how accurate the stress test will be when they are testing it with only <1000 people. Especially knowing that there will be alot more than that on release day, but oh well, I guess I can go the first day by only playing the single player while the servers crash

I know what you mean. 1000 users isn't a good stress test at all. I can turn on my dedi and run 1000 connections easy on a WoW private server. Not to say it's a good comparison at all but I'm just saying 1000 connections is by no means stress testing. Stress testing comes from 10's of thousands of connections.

Whatever, I'm just glad the community is aware of this blasphemy as I will now call it.

Honestly, I just wanted to see someone do the sparta madness post. Yes, that is a word that is completely out of place... just like Crytek at the moment maybe?

Anyways for the most part we are just going to have to deal with it I guess. Crytek refuses to give any real legitimate answers, and now people are breaking NDA, which I think is quite fair considering the wrong Crytek has done to us. Way to go law breakers!

FINALLLLLY somebody gets it! You seem to miss my point though, and that is, they took every wrong direction in how to get this test out. For that I heavily criticize. Other then that my beef is really gone. I and the community that had to deal with the stupid invite email are annoyed and Crytek has yet to give any real answers as to why it was done in such a horrible manner. Honestly this thread has gone way off boat and I have gone over board.

But again, all that's wanted now is some real answers and maybe an apology for how poorly this was handled.

Hi there :) It'll be easier if i reply to snippets of your post instead of one big reply:

Telling people "HEY YOUR INVITED!!!" then stabbing them by saying, "YOUR INVITED BUT YOU DON'T GET A CHANCE AHAHAH" Sorry you interpreted it that way but clearly you read the email incorrectly.

There are a very limited number of tokens available which is why we want to make sure you, our valued community gets a chance to participate.

This tech test is limited to Xbox 360 consoles only this time around, so if you are interested in participating and you have an Xbox 360 gold account ready to go then please sign up below for a chance to participate in our multiplayer test!
As it says, quite plainly and several times - it's a "chance" to participate in the test, not a guaranteed entry. If it was a guaranteed entry then you would've received a key in the first email. This is, as it has been mentioned several times by Tom and Lee, a way for Crytek to gauge the amount of legitimate interest the community has in a test and it was only intended for people who meet the criteria (360, XBL Gold) to sign up. Implying that Crytek are hanging a carrot in front of you is quite unfounded. The evidence that says otherwise is there, look in your email and read it more carefully.

If crytek did 20,000 invites, that would cover 1/3 of gamesas. That is a much more fair and reasonable number. Whilst that would be more fair and great for more people to participate and enjoy, as i stated in my reply, that's not part of the criteria based on this test. Crytek wanted a specific number and i can only assume that number was chosen based on a number of technical reasons. I'm not going to pretend to know exactly the reasons behind technical decisions but i'm sure the tech-heads at Crytek know a lot more than you or i do about this kind of stuff :)

It's that simple. You don't invite and then say we are only picking a select few people who are invited. What the hell is that about?

...

but still, it's unfair to the fanbase and loyal followers of Crytek to, again, invite and then un-invite. If that were the case then you may have a point but as i've already covered, people's perception is the bad guy here and re-reading the email will show why.

Honestly this thread has gone way off boat and I have gone over board. Your passion is admirable but the delivery you need to work on. Feedback, good or bad, is always appreciated. Let me know if anything still doesn't make any sense and i'll try to help out :)

Cheers.

This is exactly what I wanted, aside from it more making me look like an ass, which I was, but I was just trying to vent out the fact that yes, the email did say we can only select a few, but I say why bother then sending out these emails to say this and say you're invited. I don't know but atleast finally some freaking answers. So as I said, I would be content with answers, so I will obviously back down and say thank you for giving some answers, even if some at my expense heheh.

Your passion is admirable but the delivery you need to work on.

Well, so does Crytek ;), but it was sure as heck better then mine XD

Again, thank you.

I too use to be an active member of gamesas forums and a -BROS- member, and also I won 2 of Crytek's free trial contests (I have now 3 cd keys for Crysis Wars heh) and I never received no cd key, even though I got the email about applying for an invite code.
