Crysis 2 doesn't really look like a CryEngine 3 game

Post » Sat Aug 14, 2010 6:46 pm

Dear CryTek, so you've made it clear you do not care about PC any more. Crysis 2 is a fun game, for a console player, but after Crysis, Warhead and Crysis Wars, this new game, Crysis 2, looks like a huge step back.

Why did you do that? Is it really that revenue from consoles is worth killing off your PC fan base? You realize that you will never again restore the trust PC gamers had in Crytek and will NOT get preorders volume this high for Crysis 3. Yes, you can promise and promise and like all you want, then make it obvious you were lying, blatantly lying, but once one has to calibrate his TV in his PC game, when one shoots a rocket into a bus front glass and it stands unscratched, when a city like New York is actually a tunnel to enable content streaming and low stress on memory and higher on bandwidth and when you have those ugly low-res textures that magically look tailored to 256MB of VRAM, well, then one does cancel a preorder and just plays a Farlight scene release.

Sad. Crysis 2 and CryEngine 3 could've been a new benchmark for engine and game experience progress, but it is just a mere shadow of what it once was.

The most funny of all is that, whilst content-lacking, a package of the leaked beta had a fully working 64-bit executable, DX11 renderer (seems so) and a fully working editor - all of which were promised and then removed for release. Will you sell DX11 renderer as a DLC? Electronic Arts made you do so?

GG and kkthxbye.

Nice misleading headline
also you have no clue crysis used "low rez textures also even on very high settings

seems like allot have lost touch with the reality that over the past couple years everyone is playing modded version of crysis
Just my opinion

now stop complaining and go actually play the game graphics are amazing and better than crysis one even when its only on DX9

Hahahahaha no. The 64-bit exe was EXTREMELY buggy and unplayable while the 32-bit one worked perfectly. Good logic. DX11? No, it ran through DX9. The editor? Yet again you're wrong, it was as well buggy. You obviously don't even have a clue what you're talking about. If you're gonna complain about something, at least get your facts straight.

Well, too many fanboys here for real critics, but OK, 64-bit was buggy (although it worked just fine) but how do you explain TV calibration:)?
Where did destruction go?
What happened to big levels? All we have are small CoD-like rooms with a sky/city wallpaper.

A little wakeup call to all the fanboys, who are blinded by all the PR and "reviews" about how great the graphics are:

http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?s=440e54ade562cd2e6d9634d09b8ddde2&t=1808524

I myself have bought the game, and playing it on Extreme @ 1920x1200 on a AMD 5970, and I don't have to look for more than a few seconds no matter where I am, before I see something really messed up when it comes to textures..

For christ sake, they could have atleast made the first level really beautiful, but this is the first thing I meet when finaly gaining control of the character:

Mail CryTek, tell them of your opinion and teach them how to do it better.

I don't think any of these negative judgments are based on facts, but rather on personal opinions and perhaps some disappointment. It's been hyped beyond belief, and it's been pushed to the limits. And it's been bashed since way before the main release of the game. It creates a certain trend amongst fellow players, and it becomes a wheel that keeps rolling. It's very fuzzy, and diffuse I'd say.. There's no real concrete argument! There's only people talking about texture or dx - which is, you know.. Not really a very good argument at this point.

Well, first.. Why would you stop to take pictures only to bash instead of having a sweet night of frag&bag? Hey, listen.. I know there's a need amongst people, a need to feel special and a need to contribute something in whatever way. Shouldn't you focus on the game flow, though And the general experience of it? You point out tiny, meaningless details. Details that doesn't matter to anyone but to you and some of the CoD-crew of Bad Asses with a pathological need to bash Crysis 2 and Crytek for going console, which ultimately leads to earning more money - making BETTER, FASTER and Graphically SUPERIOR games.

Should they make a game that fits you, or should the make a game that fits most players?
