Separate PC/Console UI (User Interface)

Post » Sat Aug 08, 2009 9:05 pm

Now this is mainly for the the PC users out there but I for one hated the new Oblivion/Fallout/NV user interfaces. In particular i'm talking about the inventory/skills/journal/pip-boy screens. They svcked for PC!!!! Tabs upon tabs upon tabs upon tabs upon....

Now I'm not saying it was a game breaker for me but it was pretty painful and annoying to try and negotiate with a mouse. Please Bethesda can you look at this and try and find a solution. I know some people play with a controller on PC and that is cool, however a lot of people don't. Would it be too much to ask to have two UI's that we could choose between in the options menu?
I know it's a pain but it would honestly put you guys into legendary status for the PC community here and would be a nice thank you for all the support PC users have given you over the years :)

P.s Not saying you guys don't do anything for us, construction kit etc, but a separate interface would be really cool

I don't know...I mean I don't find the interface terrible on the PC but if they make a more functional and pratical version separate from the consoles version I guess I would enjoy it :P

I have hope!

I'm a UI programmer here at Bethesda, among other things.

Ha, I love DarN!

He bugs me with all sorts of interesting questions and conundrums. It's great! :D

Me too. DUI is the first thing I install when I get the games, and he's had time to implement it.

Ok, I'm going to read into that comment, and assume that is a hint. (No I am not asking for it to be confirmed, though I am not stopping you either. :P)

I certainly hope there are separate UIs for console and PC.

DUI is a fantastic mod and I make sure I dl this straight away, for Fallout as well, and I'm not alone the Oblivion version has had 275,834 downloads!

Would be great if this was in from the start

Maybe not completely 'separate' but add ability to use more keys for PC

I always have to rely on DarN.

Maybe this time they'll recruit DarN. :P

I agree, the PC version needs a more suitable interface. Personally speaking, while I have terrible vision, I'm far from the stage in my life where I need jumbo icons and text. :P

And the UI is great for consoles, it was designed to be, however we need something that is designed for all players

Yes. I will most likely be playing on the 360 unless I win the lottery before 11/11/11, but having the UIs developed separately for each platform can only benefit everyone.

Ha exactly. Personally i would like it if they went back to a cell based inventory system like Morrowind

Not me. I played Morrowind on the Xbox and the cell based inventory was nearly impossible to use.

I voted yes since it would be nice not to scroll around so much when in the inventory. Still OBLIVION's UI was good enough while MORROWIND's UI was perfect in my opinion.
