I like it and hate it... my honest thoughts

I was furious with crytek and ea on launch day and I am still very bitter about this release. My main complaints were the same as most everyone- no dx11 and no crossfire support. I was unable to play the game for a whole day due to the lights flickering and filling my whole screen. I have 2 5970s crossfired and disabling it did no good since a single 5970 has two gpus and is always crossfired. I had a steam copy so I couldn't rename the exe but thankfully the bug that won't save the serial never registered my steam copy so I used my cd key on the real version and got it working by renaming the exe. This mistake is unforgivable and I shouldn't have needed to go through all of that to get a $60 game to work.

Now that i've been playing the single player, i've calmed down a bit. So far, it's a good game and the graphics are great considering it's dx9. The lack of graphic options is an insult to pc gamers and I feel betrayed based on my experience with the original crysis. I think Crytek had good intentions but I have a very strong feeling that EA bullied them into this release. EA is very good at destroying great franchises and this proves it. With that said, Crytek still has a lot of explaining to do and their silence on these issues is almost criminal. I would also like to know why they went with EA in the first place. crysis was a huge success and I'm sure EA wasn't the only option. I would've been more than willing to wait an extra month or two to get a solid game. As it stands right now this just feels like an unfinished, rushed release. More time is never an option with EA, they have a long history of hyping games up and pumping them out. They don't look at the long term, they only care about short term sales and Crytek should've known this when they got in bed with them.

The game is "good," but it's not the game we were promised. I was expecting a game that would push the limits of my system. With a i7 980x @ 4.5ghz, 2 5970s and 12gb ram, I knew it would take a lot to stress my system, but this game doesn't even come close. The original is still used to test and bench new hardware, which is one of the reasons it was such a success but I don't see how this game will achieve that given the fact you can't even set AA. Maybe that will change when the patch it to dx11 but I don't have any hope for that. Everything that's happened so far tells me that this game was designed around dx9 and dx11 won't be all that great.

I can only hope that other companies and crytek learn from this so some good may come out of it, but I know EA won't change.

Pretty much my thoughts as well.

I think it's a great game, it's Crysis at heart, and the graphics are still awesome.

But the lack of graphics options and console commands for PC really really hurts. If I wanted to play an Xbox game, I would buy an Xbox. For the time being, Crysis 2 is a console game. I really hope they come through with that DX11 patch, and I hope they give the PC more options, maybe even a REAL save option, not this console-friendly cut-corner autosave ****.

I also think EA had a lot to do with how Crysis 2 turned out.

Crysis 1 was a 10/10, but Crysis 2 is a 8/10.

I have a 360 but I never considered it for this game. EA only cares about console games so I should've known better but I really had faith that Crytek wouldn't forget about it's pc fanbase.

I didn't even buy Dragon Age II (also EA), because of how chopped down it felt. The first Dragon Age was a multi-platform game too, but they didn't compromise one bit for PC.

Crysis 2 is not chopped down, it's just softened to hell for consoles. This is something that can be remedied, and I hope CryTek comes through for the PC.
