I think the melee needs a slight alteration...

Namely, make it like Killzone 3:s melee. I mean, there had been a lot of complaints about melee in other shooters, and i somewhat agree. Some guy running in and killing 3 people by bashing them in the head with his gun is just a tad bit...off.

But making it so that you haveto strike an enemy twice always seemed like a...Not bad, but clumsy solution. But never the less, if that′s the only solution. But along comes Killzone 3 and solves the problem in a suitably epic way. Namely, having little kill animations when you melee someone!

If you′re not familiar with Killzone 3, here′s what happens when you melee. Assuming you are on a flat surface, you grab your enemy and perform one of many brutal kill animations. This is a perfect solution, because of three factors:

1:If you′re on the giving side, you get a nice feeling of satisfaction.
2:If you′re on the receiving end, it′s nice to have something to watch other then: "Knife, you′re dead!"
3:If you′re a third person, it gives you time to respond.

And it′s not like it would be hard to attach to the game. All you need to do is take the animations from singleplayer and insert them into the multiplayer! Now doesn′t that sound like a good idea.

Of course, i′m not a game designer, so this could be the worst idea of the century, but somehow, i doubt that. Please give your thoughts on the idea.

In the meanwhile, what does the community think of this idea? Is it absolute bogus? Is it fantastic? Do you care either way? Let us know!

I think it's an interesting idea, but I also think that with Crysis 2's more deathmatch style multiplayer, having an insta-kill melee would end up turning it into a noob fest. I dunno..

How you described it, it sounds like a one-single-meele-dead. I think the meele would be overpowered and overused if you would add this. Crysis is faster than Killzone. You can jump 3 metres high and far, and sprint and slide with about 30 km/h. Also, you can cloak in corners and one meele would be instant kill...

This idea would end in a war of meele attacks, I think

I agree with all previous posts on this issue. The melee in the game is completely frustrating, but I can understand why it was set up like this. To remedy the issue, in my opinion, the melee needs to be one hit. It needs to be "nerfed" from simple "strike > kill". Killzones version, and I believe the new halo, have the better of the ideas. The animation takes place in-game giving teammates a chance to save their ally and makes it far more difficult to clear out a room. To make up for Crysis 2s' fast pace, the animations could be longer, more noticable to other players (such as a body flying down the street), or new skills that deal with these issues ( decrease animation time, or a sort of defense against melee altogether( which would give the defendee a chance to react somehow and the attacker retain the upper hand)). In MAG, the direction of the incomming attack determines the damage, along with an entire set of skills related to melee ability. I don't personally approve of any of the current fps strategies for melee combat, but I think a good combination of them all would be brilliant.
