What's with all the Nanosuit designs?

Post » Fri Aug 27, 2010 2:11 am

I've seen 2 distinct high-poly models and 2 in-game models that were distinct from the high poly models and from each other and when you go into FP view, the arms look a little different than they did it third person view. Any idea what the reasoning for this could be?

I couldn't find an image of the last one, but it's from the 3D trailer.

EDIT: I'm pretty sure you can only customize the Nanosuit's functionality, not appearance.

How can they improve, when the first Nanosuit design was already perfect.

black angel. they improve the suit by adding some stomach because if im righ in fall trailer the nanosuit guy is a bit bigger in stomach than in crysis 1:)

Well, when we're talking multiplayer, you can't have that many polygons rendered on the screen as you see on some of the renders. I would say even a GTX 580 in 4-way SLI would have quite a bit trouble rendering 11 nanosuits and the environment.

I think the nanosuit seen in the trailer is actually a modified version of the one that will appear in the game. With the actual one having an ever lower polygon count.

As for the hands, well, that's something that's bound to have more detail than the rest of the body/suit since that area is seen most and best. Also, since it's a relatively small area and model and it only appears on the individual player's screen, you could afford to have more polygons there.

Thanks

I'm not talking about detail, but styling. If you look at the image I posted, you can see the Nanosuit rendered in 3 unique styles and when you look at the FP view, the style changes again. I was just curious as to why Crytek doesn't stick with one consistent design.

It does seem slightly more flexible now, and in fp. view - I don't think that's final though.

My guess is that because we are in alpha stage they are still experimenting with some different design choices.

Exactly, that's what I tried to mention earlier. So nothing is final and some aspects of Crysis 2 is still un-certain

Wouldn't Crytek already have this part figured out considering the fact that Crysis 2 was supposed to be released around this time?

It was just a slight set-back....

I guess you're right. I just got a good look at the NS2 in the 3D Trailer and noticed that the biggest difference was the atmosphere and the suit itself was pretty much identical with the exception of some extra polishing (more recent build).

That aside, this has to be one of the best (if not the best) character designs I've ever seen

Let's not forget, there is still a chance for another model in the future of Crysis 3.
