Electricity goes off when I start the game!

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 10:25 am

Hey, I pre-ordered Crysis 2 on steam couple of weeks ago and I was pretty excited to play Crysis 2.
When I start the game electricity randomly goes off. I haven't experienced this kinda problem in my entire life and It's quite annoying.
Is there anybody out there who experienced this issue before?
Cheers!

it is because the nanosuit in the game actually escaped from your game and into your home's electricity socket

Forget all these idiots.

If this is a serious problem.

Then its because your power supply wattage isnt capable of running your system at full load.

Or it doesnt have protection over Sag and Surge... Which is Power being drawn from the power supply from ur components inside your PC(Sag) or a surge of power into your Power supply.

I would recommend spending atleast £40 on at least 550w PSU.. spending less then £40 your deffinatly in trouble.

the problem is that your power source to your graphics card or cpu/gpu chip is not enough wattage for something this high end. or the power amp itself is faulty.
but what do you mean exactly by, "power goes off"?

As I stated before, when I start the game electricity goes off. So my house has no electricity after I start this game...

funny, ehr, or no funny at all...

i can agree that it might be your power supply. i played a singleplayer mission the other day and when one of the alien ships shot its laser in my face, the screen was completely white. my pc restarted instantly after this. i also have some other issues related to my power supply so i guess the crash also had something to do with it.

btw. high wattage or what ever you call it in english is not always better. there are some decent 450watt power supplies out there that are better that some 650watt power supplies.

for 450 watts you should at least spend 50 euros, or whatever currency your country has. :) i think its something around 40us $, maybe 35, something like that.

i probably buy this one in the next couple of days:

It could be that his pc only wants to play real pc games and there is an anti console port system built in to his computer.

He loaded up crysis 2 and anti console port protocols kicked in shutting off his computer

that's what happened

I am sure

If your house power supply is cutting out I doubt anything is wrong with your PC system. If a PC PSU is overheating and low on juice you would see symptoms of that when using the PC. And something would have to short out to trip the house fuse switches like that. Sounds to me like a very sensitive house electricity tripping system, try turning off the fridge and other appliances to see if things are ok when playing a game.

Very odd though, I thought you were joking at first lol, like why is it every time I activate Nanovision the shower comes on lol.

PSU. in fact i would immediately remove it! something like this could lead to a fire or total computer damage.

If you loose power to your entire house there is a very good chance that you have and earthing fault which is causing the earth-leakage to trip.

Does it only happen when you use your PC? If not I would look to get an electrician out because it could be something completely unrelated to your computer. If it isn't the earth leakage causing it and one of the breakers is tripping you may be overloading the ring that you PC is connected to.

If your PSU wasn't capable of delivering enough current on one of the rails i would expect the pc to either lock up or restart but it should have absolutly no effect on your circuit breakers unless some thing is flashing over internally.

It does happen only when I start Crysis actually. Other games and stuff works fine.

Lol, I think that is just unlucky. There is nothing in crysis 2 that could cause it to happen other than the fact that it needs a reasonable amount of power for the gfx card.

Sounds to me like what ever mains feed you are connected is being overloaded.

If you get really desperate you could prove this by doing a little experiment. You could setup your PC in the kitchen of your house. All of the sockets in the kitchen should be on a ring main and the fuse should be rated a lot higher the rest of the sockets in your house.

If you try crysis and it works fine, you need an electrican to come and try and do some sort of load balancing.

TBH it is very unlikely to be that but worth a try.
