Crysis 2 Is For Future-Soldiers Who Want To Think

Post » Sat Sep 11, 2010 4:42 am

I was reading through Kotaku, and it seems a nice new article came by, check it out:

A very interesting read. We can also customize our weapons (Since this article is mainly talking about SP).

There's also some pretty nice screenshots, although not very high quality (A bit blurry in some cases).

an article in Kotaku.. these two paras have got me worrying a bit

"None of those details, though, is what makes Crysis 2 feel like a shooter that could stand out among the so many shooters coming out in 2011. Its the sandbox thing, it's the choices. It's the element of deciding how Crysis will play that was what fans of the first game fell in love with while others simply talked about its graphics.

I was not overwhelmed with the tactical variety in Crysis 2 and the options available could prove to be too few. They are, no doubt, simplified from the first Crysis and are not that much more involved than those of a Halo. But they are more complex than what I've been playing in big-budget first-person shooters lately. They do make you think about how you will fight and if you will shoot."

/moved your post to this thread on the topic :)

The first paragraph is a positive point. He's suggesting that the Sandbox experience is what will make Crysis 2 stand out from all the other FPS games in 2011.

In regards to the second point, things like thermal vision and enemies like the Pinger which can void your nanosuit at any given point certainly adds to the games' tactical aspect. I'd be curious to know in more detail how he felt Crysis 1 had more of a tactical aspect over what (and how much) was played of Crysis 2 :)

The article was enlightening, it's approach to the Sp parts of Crysis 2 seemed worthwhile. Yet the tactical aspect can only be described as more difficult for Crysis 2 rather than Crysis 1.

"There are other details to share about Crysis 2. It's got a story about a dying man who gives you the nanosuit and a CEO of the company that made the suit who is preparing for a cataclysm. "
Who is the dying man?Nomad?Psycho?
I don't want to see any Crysis character death.

Prophet. If you remember back in Crysis, he went berserk, didn't he?

I think the aliens must of infected him and now he's the only one who can understand them, and probably the main reason he's giving the Nanosuit 2 away to our new main character is to give him the knowledge, to kill them.

At least that's what I think. :P

Yeah, Prophet went completely maniacal at the end of Crysis, unfortunately the story was sub-par so I didn't care much and just wanted to TAC launch the hell out of the last boss anyway. XD
