Wall Jump!?

Post » Sun Oct 03, 2010 11:11 am

I'm getting sick of just feeling like jumping off that rock wall over the wall into the base and then remembering crysis has no wall jump.

Shin can you contact Tom to tell the developers to implement wall jump into Crysis 2?

Discuss people!

Crysis 2, which is heavily influenced by vertical gaming, features a very cool new type of gameplay element which allows much more fluid movement in the game. When you jump up against a wall that you're within grab height of, the player will grab onto the ledge and pull himself up. Combine that with the rest of the functionality of the Nanosuit2 and it's very fun and very fast and introduces a whole tonne of tactical options; do you climb up cloaked? do you climb up in armour mode? do you climb up and sprint into a slide kick? Totally depends on what's up there ;)

Actually, in the multiplayer video, they talked about something called "weapon parkour"
and moving fluidly through obsticles and there was climbing ledges and stuff so I guess they will have something like that in the game

It would be cool to have more Mirror's Edge moves in Crysis 2(for those who don't know for Mirror's Edge here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KLwKMjUxvQQ).Also weapon overtaking would be good too.

I'm not too much of a fan of him automatically pulling himself up. What if there's an alien up there that needs flanking? I guess you could cloak before you do it but it would be nice to hang there until your ready, hit the space key than make the alien etc. your bich :D

First think I thought when I saw that was "S$%T if I wanted to play Princ of Persia again I would".

For me it is another console feature like kicking the car that propably aims in cinematizing the play.

From a PC gamer stand of view this is in long term boring (if it is system asisted). I prefer to train during many games the jumps to "get up there" perfectly with satisfaction then be asisted by the system with my slopiness! Similar situation is with auto-aiming on console I hate it this is downfall of gameing!

Also the wall jump can be good only if we have full control over it (both finding the perfect moment to grab wall> mastering it and then pulling up or down). Here I also totally agree with what virtualmatrix258 wrote.

But seriously to be perfectly objective I need to say have to try it to have a final opinion.

If I remember correctly, there wasn't a feature to climb up automatically from a ledge.

We'd have to simply rely on our suit's power mode. But even so, sometimes it never helps. The automatic climbing feature sounds like a breath of fresh air since not many FPS games have this. And since this game plays in a vertical shift, it would be needed. But virtualmatrix258, although that sounds kind of funny, if that ever happens, we can simply compromise.

The idea of kicking the car is pretty cool, the game never had that. But if it was orientated to suit the cinematic, then yeah, it wouldn't be that fun. But from what I've seen, it's not just cars we can kick, but huge crates of boxes and barrels (Although most weren't shown, it was indicated by the HUD), all in different directions.
