QUESTION
How do I redeem my Crysis 2 Limited Edition DLC Code?
ANSWER

A separate gamesas Account is required to access any online features, including multiplayer content, the redemption of Limited Edition codes, DLC, etc.

While gamesas accounts use IGN technology, they do not use or require a standard GameSpy ID. You should not attempt to access online content with your GameSpy ID.

You may create your gamesas account through the game, or by logging in to gamesas.com.

* Logging in for the first time via the game will create a completely new login.
*
o If users already have a gamesas login, they may use that to login.
o Otherwise, they will be prompted to create an account.

To redeem your bonus content code from within a PC game:

* Select "Multiplayer" from the Crysis 2 main menu.
* If you have not logged in before, you will need to create a gamesas account. Enter your nickname, password, and email when requested.
* In the Crysis 2 multiplayer menu, select the "My Crysis" option.
* Select "Redeem Code". This will exit the game and open gamesas in a browser window.
* Login using your gamesas details.
* Enter the content code in the text box and click "Redeem Code".
* Run the game and it will automatically detect that your bonus content is available.

As I can't reply directly to EA, I'll post here. (forgive me Admins)

I'd like to say that EA doesn't know what they're talking about.

IGN owns Gamespy and their logins are hopelessly intermixed. It seems that everytime I log in, the way it's accounted for has changed. Granted, that's an exaggeration, but gamespy's log in system has always been buggy. When I registered my LE code, I could NOT for the life of me us the gamesas log in. .. I tried every way conceivable for over an hour. I finally used a different email which turns out was my GameSpy login email.

So guess what? Now I have to use that login (a name I don't want to-boot) to play on line. ... and I can't change it! So much for all "the cool perks". Sorry, I'm a bit miffed. As I don't think that this will get fixed when the gamesas login issue get resolved.

Btw, thanks for acknowledging that and getting after it Dev team. :)

(oh and cudo's to pagamemnon for posting EA's reply in another thread!)

So, Admins, is there any way I can fix this?

I'm equally bummed.

Whenever I see EA or Gamespy account required, I cringe. While Gamespy has been around for eons, Xbox Live seems to do it best. Granted, that's mostly for consoles and it'll cost $35-$50 (I mean $60!) a year.
I have two Gamespy tags under one account (one? email address?). I have something like three EA tags all merged under one account (email address).
With Crysis 1 I was able to create a gamesas account similar to my Xbox Live gamer tag.
Unfortunately, I found out too late (already used it for LE redemption) that it couldn't be used for Crysis 2 multiplayer login. I had created another account for the beta (again similar to my Live tag), but I didn't think I'd need it for the final/pay version.
Unfortunately, the one I created in the beta couldn't be used to post to the forum (it's also not associated with the LE) so I created pagamemnon to post (and maybe play multiplayer... if I can get the serial number to stick).

Given that tech support/customer service is swamped, I haven't received replies to requests for a the opportunity to link my LE redemption to my another account.
It's tempting to exchange the game to receive a new LE code. Of course, instead of linking a new LE code with a new account, I might as well just wait until the database team sorts out this nightmare so that we can use our original MyCrisis accounts from Crysis 1 with Crysis 2.
A novel concept, but will it ever happen?

Good Idea on waiting.

This is exactly why I haven't pre-ordered in the past. I wish I had waited to log in the LE code. Oh well.

When Gamespy and IGN and EA all started moving around and changing hands, Things got weird. I have had to create a new log in for EACH EA game I've bought over the last several years. Why they can't just glom them all together under one email consolidate to one log in, I don't know.

This whole thing is reminding me in some ways of what happened to Bungie and Halo when MS grabbed them up. They took a very cool sandbox game (one of the first in those days) for MAc/PC and whittled it down to an extremely linear console game. .. for one console. Now Cry2 isn't nearly that bad, but I see shades of Corporate thinking going on here. :\ I've had to deal with that myself at where I work from time to time (albeit it hasn't been very bad) so, I won't point the long bony finger of judgment at Crytek. They ARE a very capable company and something very obviously went sideways behind closed doors a couple months before release.
