I need help adjusting to this game

Post » Thu Jan 06, 2011 2:50 pm

Hey everyone,
Hope you're all having a great day

I just camem on to ask all you fellow Crysis 2 players for some help in regards to the game
I know it's flawed in several aspects but I've been having a blast playing the Multiplayer lately

The only problem seems to be that I can't actually adjust very well to this game, I've already put 10 hours of gameplay on it - when it usually takes me about 2 to get to know an FPS - and I can't seem to get the hang of it. I'm a decent CoD and Halo player, got a K/D of well over 2 on them both, while on Crysis I'm struggling with a 1.39

I'm not sure what it is I'm doing wrong, I know to approach the game differently to CoD of course and I've tried to capitalise over the Nanosuit abilities, but I consistently finding myself dead with no idea what just happened and how I could have prevented it. This is partially due to lagg (I have a 32Mb connection, but live in the Middle East and so experience high ping) but that can't be all it is.

Any help would be great,
Toxic

I had the same problem adjusting to C2 until I discovered that this game is all about stealth. What works for me:

Energy, stealth and mobility enhance. Stealth, find a target, blow your energy coming out of stealth with headshots. Armor mode just slows you down and helps when there's multiple targets. I only come out of stealth to armor if there's more than one. Otherwise i can blow my energy killing the target in like 2 seconds, get my energy back through transfer then re-stealth and repeat. I haven't decided whether or not I like the stealth game play.... It's been fun so far tho.

I honestly haven't figured out how to play with out stealth... Everyone else is invisible and has the drop on me from the get go with out it. I find I get shot in the back about 90% of the time I'm not stealthed.

Its all about micro managing your energy, to be fair there is no way any one person can tell you how to play, you just have to keep playing and find your own play style which is what makes this game so good, you can actually customise your character to your liking.

I agree that getting shot in the back happens quite often. I highly suggest you stick with other players if you decide to play un-stealthed. Or you can use other team members as bait. Use stealth but stay in somewhat close proximity of your fellow teammate. Once he draws out the enemy, you can come in for the kill. Your teammate gets the assist points and you get the kill. Win-Win. I feel like the only time you should even consider lonewolf-ing it is if you got a silent weapon. Map control is also very important, but it's hard to do without team coordination.

Anyone else willing to share their strategies?

Distance is your friend. Most of the time, on open spots, you can get kills before they even know you're there. On the roof of Downed Bird of example. It's a resonably high traffic area so grenades, both thrown and tube, work wonders.

Unless there is a patch, the aiming is terrible and it's normal that most people svck at this game, really. Plus the low frame rate in MP, not the best...

You better find another game that is actually properly playable until they patch this one.

Yeah I see your point there,
But frankly I've enjoyed this game so much as of late, and the nanosuit really just gives it a unique sort of stance in FPS games, it's that little bit different and that's keeping me in. I've been using stealth more often, and I've found armour not to be too useful but at the same time, I'm not pulling off any great scores in TIA (don't pay attention in objective) I'm still rarely going 2k/d even

What could I be doing wrong?

Note:K/D on Crysis does not measure skill, it measures connection speed.

I love Armor just as much as stealth. I always try to make sure that if I go into battle that I have all or nearly full energy in Armor mode.

If you have lightning reflexes, you can also beat a stealth guy who opens fire on you first if you have armor on. I do this regularly and its very satisfying. Armor is not useless as some would have you believe, its very good in the right hands.

As a previous guy pointed out, having armor on with really low energy is pointless. Use that low energy in stealth mode to find a hiding spot, re-energise and then your on your way again. Only switch to armor when your about to fight (or if a grenade drops at your feet)
