FalloutNV.exe crash FIX

Post » Tue Jan 11, 2011 10:43 pm

I have the same problem but have found a FIX.

Click PLAY on the steam game page for FNV...then quickly move your mouse cursor to the right and click PLAY on the FNV menu that comes up. This procedure has worked for me 5 times in a row..so I hope it works for you guys/gals as well. Have fun.

I have found another fix further down the forum that someone else came up with that also works;

Turn off realtime protection in MSE while you are playing FNV. Sry I didn't get the name of the guy who found this fix, but you know who you are..and thanks for your post.

Glad this works for you, but I don't see how this would make a difference, and it doesn't work for me anyways. As of now I still haven't been able to play the game.

Wag's message is here:

Earlier today, I stopped trying to tell new arrivals that it helps the folks here to offer suggestions if they include certain information, which I have mentioned in my post about the DxDiag Report being used to present the data. There were just too many of them clogging up the forum, and I have been feeling frustrated about the inability to be able to assist, so I haven't sent anyone my suggestion about that since then. Wag's message was among those without anything in it to get a handle on and see if there was anything someone might be able to suggest.

It's not just the incomplete question, really, more than anything, it's the great huge flood of nVIDIA Geforce video card owners whose hardware seems crash-prone, freeze-prone, and performance crippled, and for whom there are basically just work-arounds, such as running in windowed mode, and / or substituting really old video drivers.

Thanks for that Gorath. Knocking all the Nvidea owners out there. That must be at least 50% of PC's... How is it some are running FNV fine then? My machine is one of those crappy nvidea ones too, strange thing is, I have never had a problem running other games before. OK, F3 had v.minor bugs, no probs, but FNV won't even get past the intro for me. So my rig nvidea runs everthing else so far ok, why is it that you deride the nvidea part of it? I would think by logic that the common denominator of all these CTD's and other major flaws in the FNV game, is the game itself. Don't see how you could come to any other conclusion? I would presume you don't have nvidea onboard, then that must be why its ok to put it across that it is our problem for having that brand... Maybe we should all go junk our nvidea cards and buy alternative brands, so that the game will run. Yeah, that'll cure it, we should have known!

But anyway, honestly, thankyou for tryng to help out with debugging this game. I am not into reprogramming the software to get a game to run, I was just hoping it would work when I bought it. Till it does, I am stuck waiting for a patch to get past the intro.

I am a little worried that Bethesda might cut & run over the storm & backlash brewing due to FNV issues. It might seem an easy way out once they have the cash. I hope this is not the case and maybe I am just paranoid. If it is the modders who end up sorting it out, then I will have to get on learning those techniques. Tried modding Stalker before and nothing seems to change, even following word for word instructions on the net. So looks like I might have to devote valuable time to this modding hobby.

I have an ASUS ATI Radeon 5970 and can't play either. So don't waste time or money getting an ATI card. I was starting to think the same about my card.
