Let's play New Vegas.

Since FNV will be able to be played a variety of ways, such as... VATS only, real time, survivalist...

What do you think the best way to play this game would be?

For me, I'll probably do what I did with Fallout 3 the second time around, no fast travel and no VATS. Also I played it with the attitude of "What would help me out best, good or bad." Such as pillaging and stealing if I ran out of money, or ammo.

I find V.A.T.S. fun. I guess becuause it gives me a semblance of turn based combat. (yeah I know it's not really turn based combat, but it feels like it a bit.) I will probably play it hard core mode or is that what you mean "survivalist". I ruin too many of my games by looking for "tips" or I read real spoilers, so I will play this without reading it. I will even buy the strat guide so I don't ruin anything by coming on the forums just in case I read something that can spoil it. Happend with Morrowind, Oblivion and Fallout 3. I know it will happen with New Vegas it's self.

So this will be a new experiance, and since it like Fallout 3, there is really no excuse to play it once to get a feel for the game and then play differently the 2nd time around. To play it for real the 2nd time around, you already know where alot of things are so then it's not a spoiled for you.

So hard core for me the first time around. Will really make me think of what choices I make then.

Ill probably play more on the good side and will only make limited use of Vats. I will probably use fast travel depending on what im doing or if a vehicle mod comes out. As for money and weapons i may stray from the good path every now and then to get something if i want to try it out or ant get it. I think it really depands on how NV plays.

Well I can't see it playing no different than Fallout 3, it shoujld be no problem for us to get into. I can't see myself being "pure good", but more of a thief in order to survive.

I am a good guy but that is just to support my pickpocketing / stealing habit :ninja:

I will likely play it hardcoe the first time around on one condition.
I've heard mentions of creating caches in the desert, like leaving supplies there for later to replenish, but in FO3 a lot of the containers refreshed after a while so how would this work?

I will only use fast travel to avoid tedious and unnecessary play. If I feel like the trek back to a previous location might result in me being challenged, or if I think there might be one little unexplored morsel of land over there, I won't use it. As far as VATS goes, I will probably be somewhere in the 50/50 VATS/real-time combat range. I like to mix it up.

I have decided to find a shack somewhere in a secluded part of the Mojave with plenty of animals, Im going to be dumping alot of points into Survival and Repair so I can cook my own food, make my own foods, and craft ammo and ammo parts. Btw, can we take stuff and melt it down to create stuff for our ammo? Say you find a bronze lamp, can we melt it down to make a couple shell casings or melt down bars of lead? That'd make it alot easier to be self-sufficient instead of making periodic trips to the nearest settlement. I plan on not fast traveling because I like to explore and find the map markers and random encounters, unless its a route I take often. I'll use some VATS but only every so often, when I'm in the mood for a cinematic blood bath.

Isn't this kind of a duplicate thread? (Or is it a triplicate? Quadruplicate?)

I won't use Vats, I hate slow mo, not because it breaks immersion, which it does, but It gets glitchy

I'll wander off exploring the map un-leveled with no armour/weapons and hope i dont come across a deathclaw or pack of geckos during my travels.

then i'll go kill somebody.

Survivalist will be my favorite way to play the game (Just dont think it will relieve stress!). The reason i belive this is the best way to add imersion. Tho i think the iron sights will make the game awsome.
