...for the love of the game...

Welcome to a trip down memory lane! These pictures are for Descent3, they show some of the scope of what could be done with the game engine. Many thanks to (LL)ATAN for continued development of the Descent3 Editor!

Is Descent3 still alive? Well, here was the Varicose Veins game last night!

master of this tale, J.R.R. Tolkien on January 3rd, 2003. Quoted from Bilbo Baggins:
"My eleventyfirst birthday, a rather curious number and a very respectable age for a hobbit".
Rest in piece, Mr. Tolkien, your works are still alive today!

Oh, man, these screenshots bring back some memories. :D *sniff*

Could we throw in a screenshot of RoadRunner's "Alcatraz" (currently played in Beta-testing of the new BreakOut mod)?

Hay, a RIP member. Nice to see you someone is still around from there. My uncle was/is with RIP as well, Perhaps you remember him? Buddha?

And assuming you do remember, he made the "Rome" level. If you have it, should get some shots from there!

Good to hear from you, echonite! There are lots of RIPpers still around, check out The RIP BB.

We just had your uncle [RIP]Buddha back in game recently, it's good to see he's feeling well enough to play again!

Ya, ever since I told him gamesas was making a comeback and planning a D4, hes been reigniting his interest.

Probably the reason I haven't seen many around is because I haven't played in years. Since gamesas first went under. Ill have to barrow a copy of D# from my uncle and get back in there =P Oh how i miss it.

DwnUndr you always were and continue to remain....the freakin man...

Many moons did i stare out the window of the beer storing bathroom in canyon seige...gazing upon a pixelated image of you caving with some friends while waiting for victims to happen by...

Oh how many times i napalmed the bbq chimney in the wet spot to remind people it was a bad hiding place...
Your levels used to get alot of slack from the community for one personal pickey preference or another.

I was there when WA2 was lopsided giving one team an advantage..and there again when the level was revamped and relaunched...I was there when canyon seige turned to aftermath..and when rip built a practice level with targets that they would only let rip members play....hehehehe

memory lane!...Thank you for posting all those images....Planet X!!!! wooo...those were the days..
gamesas should send you some type of award for your years of excellent free service. :)

I'd forgotten just how hideous most of the Descent 3 levels were.

My favourite levels were in the first D3 Demo, The Core and Polaris. They looked pretty sweet at the time, but they've dated since. Can't say I ever liked much of the third-party levels but there were a couple good ones out there. Bill The Cat and Halcyon. Neither look like much today but they were alright at the time and played well.

Hello everyone.

Thank you for all the great shots of one of my favorite games of all time.

My favorite level was World's Apart, and of course, our ^BoTS^ custom level.
I am anxiously awaiting D4.

Just managed to get the bugger installed again. Blasting my way through the 17 levels now. A massive thank you to EA for:
- Producing great quality games time and time again
- Providing excellent technical support
- Never destroying any highly acclaimed studios for profit
- Never ripping people off
- Never wasting people's time

lol Thanks Grendel.

I still play this game like it came out yesterday.

There STILL IS A multiplayer service still running that has chat rooms and game tracker. If anyone hasn't heard of it yet or is too lazy to notice it mentioned in other places around the forum, It's called Vortex. Speak up if you want in :) . If you are going to fight a war, do it efficiently, unremittingly, or don't do it at all--I'm not into ethics, I'm into efficiency.--Benjamin St. John "Descent" by Peter Telep
