Hello Crysis community. I am a CoD veteran, with roots back to CoD 4, tenth prestige in every game since then. I would like to consider myself well rounded and a decent player, as I can preform excellently in battlefield aswell. But it seems this game has completely destroyed me, as I struggle to go positive in any game I grace my presence in.

I completely understand that Crysis is more difficult than CoD, as it takes many shots to kill someone. In addition to the armor abilities, the straiffing, and the halo-esk combat jumping. But wow, I cannot win a firefight to save my life.
I use the Scout kit, find someone with their pants down, place Armor on, and unload all 7 shells into a completely unmoving target at 3 ft away... And get turned on because at the last second he jumped and double melee'd me.
I ragequited very fast.

Do any of you people who are actually good at this give me any tips? I could use it.
Also- How do you throw a grenade?
All help is very appreciated.

I saw the CoD part and almost got angry, but then I saw that you were a sensible person.
So I'll give some tips.

Cloak helps alot, but don't overuse it, you're gonna need the energy for other things, such as running, jumping, and armor. Always flip on armor mode before shooting an enemy, unless you're low on energy.
If you're going to go for an armor class, I'd suggest the Mk. 60 as a primary, and perhaps if you favor a shotgun using the loadout pro module to carry a marshall as a side arm.
I presently use SCAR or Feline as weapons, as they seem to get the job done well.
Though a select few may work, I'd highly recommend abandoning some CoD techniques, such as quick scoping or relying only on melee.
If you're playing on a vertical map like skyline, and you want to get some perspective on your battlefield, you should make your way to the top of the greenhouse in the middle of the map, and scope out the map with the visor, tagging any enemies you see. And camping will NOT get you anywhere, since this game is focussed around moving around alot, and you will get assassinated by some stealth guy by camping.

Now there's the laser sight attachment which helps alot with guns like the feline, but it trades a bit of stealth, so be wary, and know your tradeoffs, since it makes the gun extremely accurate but has a laser that shows the enemy where you are. Also, headshots can help alot, so aim for the head. Always keep moving, I cannot stress this enough, high mobility helps you get the drop on enemies, letting you get the first shot.
To help your aiming skills, you should start a private match with just you, and just practice shooting objects, moving around, jumping, and try to keep your gun aimed at it.

And grenade is double tap Y if you're on Xbox, PC is pressing G, and PS3 is double tap Triangle.
Hope this helps.

I had my flamesuit activated way before I pressed new topic, but I apreciate you didn't home in on "CoD" and start a flame war. I am aware that no tactic from CoD works here, as I swiftly got destroyed by half the team rushing while invisible. I also seem to get knifed alot by people hiding in corners while invisible. I was surprised when I finally gave up try-hard camping and rushed with a shotgun and did better. Like, a lot better. I am by no means a casual gamer, even though I do stem from casual shooters. I want to become great a Crysis, or at least go consistantly positive. But is is great to be challenged again. Thank you very much for the help, I'm going to play and try not to humiliate myself. Also, what does the underslung "Gauss" attachment do? I have fired the projectile at several enemies but it doesn't appear to do anything. I might svck or the attachment is bugged.

The gauss attachment takes away your opponents energy setting you up for easy kills, see a guy in max armor shoot him with it to take away all his energy then switch to normal bullets to finish him.

1 its a tactical shooter, so anything you learn on CoD forget fast.

2 Could be your connection to host

3 Just a laggy player, i find a player who jumps all over the place while i try to shoot them

No offense, if haven't ever played COD, COD:UF, or COD2, you are not a 'veteran' of COD.

What you are is a veteran of the bastardization of the IP. Go play the originals, you will instantly know what I mean.

As for tips....

Mega dittos on using the gauss attachment, as others have said, and if you insist of being scout, the most helpful thing is just to learn the maps. And obviously that comes by just playing the game. Just something simplestupid like that will easily help put you in the black. Especially since you to play aggressively.

Also, since you will be running around a lot, cloak can be very useful, but if you are spending more than 3 seconds cloaked, you are wrong. Especially when some players love to spam thermal vision. Sprint and armor are your friends.

Happy hunting.
