I Think I've Figured It Out...

So here is my guess as to why Crysis 2 does not look like a completed game...

Well I thought about why Crysis 2's graphics were not astounding, and why I was forced to look at some textures that looked like they were taken strait out of CoD BO...At first I thought "Oh...this looks just like the Console version...huh...looks like Crytek doesn't care about us PC guys anymore..." But then I thought about it a little more, and I came to realize that EA probably was responsible, I will explain why. 1st of all, the original release date was sometime in December, I'm guessing that Crytek asked for an extension to finish the game, and EA said that they had till March, EA probably told them that this was their last extension or something like that. Crytek was then forced to release a half finished PC version of the game, why PC? you ask...well my guess is that Crytek decided to cut their losses and finish just the console versions,Why? because it's always nice to make a good first impression, and they already had alot of PC gamers loyalties.

Hopefully Crytek will try to finish the game over the next couple of months. At the moment there are rumors of a DX11 patch in the future...I will continue to hope.

I think the reason why Crytek has not been saying anything is probably because EA has told them to not say anything...

PS: someone told me that the leaked beta version of the game had a 64bit mode but they said it was very very buggy. But the final version does not have a 64bit mode, meaning that the 64bit mode was not finished and may come in a patch latter...

So much for Crysis being the game with the best graphics. Battlefield 3 will destroy this ****. People can say the games so scripted or however they want about BF3 but at least its impossible to be as bad as how this turned out.

64bit mode will make zero difference to performance, it shouldn't have been included.

C2 currently uses around 3.25GB (I assume this is correct, haven't checked) which is currently a sweet spot for gaming. People who buy 8GB for gaming are idiots, first of all most games are still 32bit and secondly it offers to performance gain whatsoever. Sometimes it will even reduce performance.

CPU and GPU are more important than RAM for gaming, 8GB of ram is for specific uses i.e. video/audio editing, 3D modelling etc etc

Example, If I'm running Photoshop CS5, Sony Vegas and Adoba After Effects, 4GB isn't going to cut it. Two video editors I give 2-3GB each for HD editing/previews and Photoshop wants at least 3GB - 2+3+3 = 8GB MAXIMUM usage. 4GB would be unworkable in many circumstances as the base usage hovers around 3-4GB.

I think 6 GB (3x2GB) of Triple channel memory is actually the optimum amount of memory for gaming, cost/speed wise that is...

I believe the reason for the decrease in performance with 8 GB or more of RAM, is because when you have a lot of space on 1 or 2 sticks of Memory, programs have trouble finding their stored data on the individual sticks of RAM. If the 8 GB is separated into 4 sticks of 2GB, it would probably be really fast, especially if it's Quad Channel DDR3 memory :)

PS: With Crysis 1 64bit mode it definitely helped to have more memory, my friend has an Alienware computer with 16GB of Triple Channel DDR3....Yeah that is fast... (and very expensive :)
