Who Should Compose the Music of Crysis 3?

Post » Thu Sep 23, 2010 3:19 am

I was wondering what people thought of the music of Crysis 2. Because it has already been said that Crytek is planning sequels, I want to know who you think should compose the music of Crysis 3.

Here is a sample of the music from Crysis, composed by Inon Zur:

In my opinion, the score from the original Crysis was better than than that of Crysis 2. I think both Inon Zur and Hans Zimmer are great composers, but Inon Zur has Zimmer beat on this one (again, my opinion). There is just no replacing that iconic Crysis theme music. Tell me what you think and vote.

Crysis 2 it's music blew Crysis 1 out of the water, so I would definitely like to see (hear) Hans Zimmer, Boris Slavov and co. again in Crysis 3.

Just out of curiousity, did you play the original Crysis?

They also sing mostly about cannibalism, six, whores and freaks of nature. And America **** up the world.
Which is why they're awesome, but I doubt they'd do too well in a typical American gun-ho game. Not enough self-parody.

I haven't listened to the soundtrack to Crysis 1, but I did like Hans Zimmer's composition of Crysis 2's music, so why not bring him back for Crysis 3?

Hans Zimmer is a beast when it comes to music, and he has tons of potential in directing music in videogames; he did a great job with Modern Warfare? 2, and Crysis 2 is no exception.

Well if you didn't listen to the first game's music, then how the hell are you supposed to know which one was better? Maybe they should just do a compilation of both for Crysis 3.

Sorry guys, but nothing holds a cup to Far Cry, despite much more money was spent on Crysis. In Far Cry there is so much more life and atmosphere to it, Crysis cannot hold a candle to it:P

I love them both..(Crysis 1 and 2)

I really can't decide between the soundtracks. They are both awesome in their own right. A direct comparison is hard for me.

While I have to say that the new soundtrack isn't quite my favourite style, I think it works better overall. In Crysis 1, none of the music stayed in my head. It didn't disturb me, but it didn't add much either, it felt overall rather generic. In Crysis 2, pretty much the opposite happened. Especially in the singleplayer campaign, the music added to the dramaturgy quite nicely despite the fact that it's not really my style. To me that shows that the work done for Crysis 2 is better in terms of music.

In my opinion it depends where Crysis 3 will be set.
For a Jungle: Clearly Inon Zur
For a city-like theme: Hans Zimmer & Co. :)

Well it better be in a jungle, because Crysis 2 was way too linear.

Oh, the music is from Hans Zimmer? That will explain why it partially sounds like Pirates of the Caribbean soundtrack...

Im going to say BOTH.
Crysis 1 had FAR better action / combat music, and better music 'stingers' (i.e. short clips).
Crysis 2 had FAR better cut scene / atmosphere music.

If they could agree on one style, it could work out very well.
