Issues with screen going black during explosions

Post » Sun Sep 26, 2010 11:14 am

Hey there,

I'm having an issue with my screen going completely black when something blows up near me. Be it a rocket from that APC, a grenade or a barrel. I'm not talking about "boom, yu ded nao!" black, but pitch black. Also, when I get to low health the screen goes black as well. However, turning on Nano vision enables me to see my weapon, the enemies and anything else that you're supposed to see with Nano vision. The rest of the surroundings are black. I've noticed that in singleplayer only, not multiplayer. Anyone else having something along the lines of that?

Specs:
CPU: Intel i7 930@ 2.8 GHz
RAM: 6 GB @ 1333 MHz
GPU: nVidia GTX 275
OS: Win7 64bit

Crysis 2 settings:
Resolution: 1680x1050 (old LCD monitor)
Detailes: Medium
No bloom, no blur, no AA/AF, VSync on

It's an engine thing, and it happens in all the Crysis games.

Ahh, and I thought it was only happening to me
I dont think its your hardware, it's most probable the engine problem, try posting it on the crysis 2 bugs thread or something :)

Well, I think I know how to avoid the black screen... I turned Motion Blur on and it works fine... Tested with multiple explosions in my face and low health warnings. No idea why it works normally with motion blur on, but it works...

I turned Motion Blur off when I noticed it was blurring objects even when I was not moving (specifically a flag pole next to where I was crouching.) I disabled Motion Blur using Wasdie's "Crysis2 Advanced Graphics Options v1.7"then reloaded the checkpoint immediately prior. Looked at the same flag pole, and what do you know, it was not blurred.

Really annoying that I have to choose between blurred objects even when not moving or black screen after nearby explosions (and usually get shot to death). I choose the less dying option.

Hopefully, Crytek fixes this issue sometime before they release next Crysis sequel, expansion, or whatever.
