Oblivion's future

Post » Thu Aug 13, 2009 7:29 pm

It's been more than 7 months since I came last time to the forums and didn't want the title of the topic to be just another Oblivion V when where?Still I'm curious if there are news related to a next game because of one game that I recently found. It's called Mount and Sword:Warband. At first look might seem just a clone to Elder scrolls games and I'm sure the makers loved the serie but this game is so realistic when it comes to simulating medieval life and fighting, more than Elder Scrolls ever came.I really hope Elder scrolls will borrow from this game like 99% and go even further.
Anyway what's your opinions on this guys and also what are you guys expecting from the next ES?

the infernal city seems to be the best thing that they can do next, it would be cool and in the books it appears just after the oblivion crisis ends.

It was just an ironic thing since before when someone would make a similar topic would ask when is oblivion V coming out :)

So, what's the point of this thread again? You should use the official TESV thread, anyway.

http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php you mean? Great game, though I doubt it was that much influenced by TES. Total lack of "fantasy," magic and that sort of thing, just pure medieval make-believe. Much better combat dynamics than Oblivion, but then the quest, role-playing and lore parts of Oblvion, not to mention the settings blows MBW out of the water.

Yes I mostly mean the whole combat system and having soldiers. This way Cyrodiil or whatever the next province will be will feel much mo populated having this huge and massive fights. As for quests yes I'd love the variety of Elder scrolls even tho they are very similar just different names.Still there is a really big modding comunity for Warband too so who knows.

If there IS an ES5, I'm hoping to visit Black Marsh. I'm an Argonian to the bone. Always have been, always will be.

same, my first ever character was an argonian, as is the character i started this morning :foodndrink: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Morrowind the bottom paragraph in the 'history' section mentions argonians. these events are directly after the oblivion crisis.

A game that combined the best of Mount&Blade and the best of TES would be one helluva game. Still I suspect it would not succeed, and would wind up being badly flawed. Both games are so fantastic in their own ways, it is kind of hard to imagine any design crew managing to combine both into a good system.

Sort of like combining the best of the NFL and the best of the NBA into some hybrid fantasy sport. Market forces and specialized experiences of the designers/performers suggest to me it would never happen else whoever tried would fail.

One can hope though, and raising it for discussion and suggesting it is a worthwhile dream is laudable!

Suggestions for future TES games should go in http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1107672-tes-v-ideas-and-suggestions-173/ thread.
Speculation on the next TES game should go in http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1107601-official-tes-v-speculation-thread-56/ thread.
Bethesda is done with Oblivion, no more expansions, DLC's, nothing. It's finished, for good. They don't work on it anymore.

We have an http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1107601-official-tes-v-speculation-thread-56/ because there is no information about when TES V will be out.

And an http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1107672-tes-v-ideas-and-suggestions-173/ that you can use to make suggestions (ie I want the next Elder Scrolls game to be more like Mount and Blade)
