Key bindings via .ini or .cfg file?

Post » Sun May 15, 2011 9:24 am

Hi there.
I am enjoying this great game, but there is a serious fault in the control scheme.

To do a running slide you must sprint and duck simultaneously.
The most common keys for these actions (and also the ones I like to use) are SHIFT (for sprint) and LEFT CTRL (for duck).

IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO PUSH BOTH OF THESE AT THE SAME TIME!!!!

I tried switching duck to a different key, but in the middle of a fire-fight, my muscle memory kicks in and I am screwed!

Is there any sneaky .ini or .cfg file that I could edit to bind duck to CTRL and another key as well?

Thanks,
Dan

you don't have to push them at the same time...whenever your using th sprint key just let off and immediately hit crouch.

It's done in the console. Google it.

hm... you can bind keys via autoexec.cfg, for example:

bind 0 t_scale .3 // slowmotion enabled
bind 9 t_scale 1 // slowmotion disabled
bind 8 Hud_Hide 1 // Hud disabled
bind 7 Hud_Hide 0 // Hud enabled

Hud_Hide 1 does work in multiplayer and you can bind it on two different keys.
so i tried : bind alt crouch, but it didn't work
any ideas?

Hitting SHIFT and Left Ctrl seems easy enough for me.

He mentioned muscle memory bro ^^
I kinda have the same prob, I was actually wishing to have F for Crouch (non toggle mode) and Z for Crouch (toggle mode)
My usual setup is always crouching F and Z for prone if the game has it
My sprint is always V but if I wanna slide, F makes it more than tedious, hence wishing to have a second bind on Z.

I'm trying to find out how to make a second bind work as well, did the same command attempts, didn't work.
Maybe the int name of the crouch has a different name? I dunno.

I took a closer look on crysis wars. There the keybindings are defined in the actionmap.xml( path: C:\Users\Admin\Documents\My Games\Crysis Wars\Profiles\default)

For example:

Defining the action "crouch" twice doesn't work in crysis wars:

This one doesn't work either:

And finally, I can't open the actionmap.xml of crysis 2 (C:\Users\Admin\Saved Games\Crysis2\Profiles\default) correctly, I only get strange letters:
CRYePC2$?¨|2P\?oT±á...........

So far, i don't see a solution besides stretching my fingers;)

I feel for ya, I wished I found something to make double binds happen. :'(
